"The noise from the main road is unbearable The main road is literally facing the rooms especially if you’re in the room is closest to the road. It is like the trucks are coming through the middle of your room constantly all night. The property is also not very clean. It feels musty dirty and the towels are disgusting.
Not my ideal accommodation. I can tell you that as for the restaurant the grill is foul. I couldn’t even even eat one steak. It was covered in 2 inches of charcoal. The broccoli was soaked in of oil the food out onto my plate."
"I stayed for three nights in room 46. It was extremely disappointing. The room looked shabby and badly needed an update. The weather was cold and wet but there were no spare blankets available in the cupboards. No washing up liquid was provided for guests to wash their dishes. No side plates available. The bathroom was very poorly maintained. Both the the bath and the washbasin were badly stained and cracked and looked dirty. The wash basin in particular needs replacing. The towels did not look clean. My biggest complaint is that I was charged almost $800 for this. I assume the high price was because of the Generations in Jazz weekend in Mt. Gambier as I have just looked up the offer now and it is HALF that price for a three night stay. Because of the extremely poor facilities and the greatly overpriced charge I feel entitled to a refund. I will not recommend this to anyone and will not stay there again."
Davidson's Cottage Penola: Open fire, AC, Wifi, SMART TV, Garden Dog Friendly
10/10 Excellent
"A pleasure to stay in Davidsons cottage, warm and comfortable and situated in the midst of Penola's history in Petticoat Lane. The cottage has been carefully restored to suit the era but still has all the modern facilities to make your stay easy. Thanks to Jen, the host, who responded promptly to all enquiries.Would highly recommend as a base to explore the history and the vineyards in the area"
PET FRIENDLY COTTAGES - KELPIE COTTAGE - SELF CONTAINED COTTAGES
10/10 Excellent
"My second stay at Kelpie Cottage and I just adore it. So quiet away from the main town of Mt Gambier but close enough for convenience. Everything that could be needed, plus more is provided by the hosts. Easy check-in, gorgeous location and I just love the fact that they are a rescue for Maremma Sheepdogs. Very comfortable cabin with very generous provisions which was appreciated for breakfast.I can’t speak any higher of the hosts, they love what they do and it shows. Thank you again, I’ll be back! "

8/10 Good
"This charming little cottage is perfect for a short stay. Full of history and carefully curated artefacts it has a lovely sunny verandah for your morning cuppa. "
"We had a great time staying in the Moon Lover tent with our 6 & 7yo. Everything was perfect! The kids loved having a fire, sleeping in the tent together and walking/running the 3.5km loop in the bush😊 It’s a great weekend retreat (we drove from Adelaide for the night)."
