About this property
Davidson's Cottage Penola: Open fire, AC, Wifi, SMART TV, Garden Dog Friendly
Historic Davidson’s Cottage Penola is a delightful timber cottage located in the Coonawarra wine region of South Australia. It pays homage to the Scottish pioneers who settled the area in the mid-19th Century.
This quaint little cottage dates from 1861 and is full of rustic charm. With a private garden and situated among other heritage cottages in famous Petticoat Lane and just a leisurely 5 minute stroll from Penola town centre, Davidson's Cottage is a romantic, relaxing and convenient retreat for two, ideal for together time.
Your accommodation includes the entire cottage and private cottage garden. The lovely bedroom is decorated with Victorian charm and boasts cedar furniture and a queen size brass bed. Electric blankets, doona and quilt will keep you toasty warm. Spend an evening in the lounge in front of our large open fire (wood supplied) and enjoy our complimentary Tawny. Enjoy some Smart TV viewing or play parlour games. The kitchen is equipped with induction hotplates, microwave, small oven and small appliances, perfect for simple meals. We also provide granulated coffee, coffee pods, premium teas, sugar, oil, S and P and kitchen papers. The large veranda and BBQ are ideal for alfresco dining. The laundry and shower room complete the cottage. Davidson's Cottage also has reverse cycle air-con, complimentary wifi, secure on-site car parking, contactless arrival, peace and quiet and all that the good life of the Coonawarra has to offer.

We loved having such a beautiful cottage that was also pet friendly. The facilities were great, the location so close to the centre of town was fabulous and being able to have an open fire was just lovely.
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay in this historical cottage and neighborhood. The decor both outside and inside was perfect without being over the top. Only stayed for 2 nights and upon leaving wished we had organized to stay longer. Communication with the host, Jen, was efficient both leading up to and on the day of arriving. Would love to visit again and will recommend to family and friends.
Davidson Cottage was charming and cosy and very well situated for a walk into the Penola township or a drive to the wineries. Our hosts had thought of everything we may need and we made good use of the open fire, whilst our little dog loved the sun filled fenced yard and getting to know the Alpaca next door. This was a great base to explore the Coonawarra and we have stocked up our cellar for winter. We certainly hope to return.
The hosts think of everything. A charming getaway in a pretty setting and an easy stroll to shops cafes and restaurants. All the Coonawarra wineries on your doorstep. Our little Jack Russell loved the backyard. The fireplace made it very cosy in the crisp Autumn weather. The only downside for us was that the NBN team chose our last day to undertake noisy drilling works right beside the cottage which went on for 10 hours. Needless to say it encouraged us to head out for a few more wine tastings!
Our stay her was wonderful, very comfortable bed , the weather had turned quite cold but very toasty and warm inside and the fireplace was fantastic. It is a great location, and the fenced in yard was just for our little dog to enjoy.
I had a fantastic two night stay at Davidson's cottage. The property was exactly as listed and very, very comfortable. I would highly recommend staying there if you are looking to explore Penola. A great cottage in a central location.

The cottage was very charming, we felt part of the Heritage area, it was a great experience.
Visited the area for the field day so we didn't get the chance to explore as much as we would have liked, but the property was great, the surrounding food was delicious and the curious alpaca was an interesting surprise to the morning.
A pleasure to stay in Davidsons cottage, warm and comfortable and situated in the midst of Penola's history in Petticoat Lane. The cottage has been carefully restored to suit the era but still has all the modern facilities to make your stay easy. Thanks to Jen, the host, who responded promptly to all enquiries.Would highly recommend as a base to explore the history and the vineyards in the area
Great historical place to stay, walking distance to everything panola has to offer. Cottage is snug and cosy. Im 6'2" so have a few bumps on my head....haha. all wineries within a short drive.
It was gorgeous and charming. Being an historic cottage, it was in some ways like staying in a museum, transporting my imagination to life in the 1860s, but with electricity, wifi, hot running water, induction cooktop, microwave and all the other mod con for convenience and comfort. The yard was secure and my dog thought it smelt very interesting.
We enjoyed the "Old World" feel of the property and Petticoat Lane. Highly recommend. Should say that temperature dropped at night, so bring your woolies!

A lovely historical cottage, although the kitchen is very small but not unexpected. Beware of the cold at night during winter but thanks for a generous supply of firewood!
