Tour fascinating historic sites dating back to the first century, enjoy authentic local cuisines and indulge in some of Japan’s best shopping in this dynamic city.

Nagoya, one of Japan's largest cities, is a modern metropolis with a rich historical past. The city, which is home to almost 3 million people, has well-preserved historical sites, excellent shopping and luxury accommodation.

Learn more about Nagoya's past with a trip to Nagoya Castle. Much of this impressive castle was destroyed by a fire during World War II but it has been carefully restored.

In spring, the city is awash in colour as the cherry trees flower. Join locals in the ancient Japanese practice of hanami, which sees family and friends gathering to admire the blossoms. Visit one of Nagoya’s parks, such as the famous and beautiful Heiwa Park, and have a picnic under the colourful boughs.

At the centre of the city is Nagoya Station, the city’s primary train station and one of the world’s largest railroad hubs. Directly above the station are the JR Central Towers. The towers house luxury hotels as well as viewing decks, bars and day spa amenities.

Just on the edge of town is theToyota Automobile Museum. Here you can see classic car models a well as luxury American and European cars from one of the main automobile manufacturers in Japan.

Enjoy the sereneAtsuta Shrine. This shrine, which is one Japan’s most sacred sites, is only a short train ride from Nagoya Station. The shrine’s woodland surroundings make it the ideal place to relax after a day seeing the city's sights.

Feast on some of Nagoya’s renowned cuisine. For an authentic dining experience, try hitsumabushi (grilled eel) which is served with rice and broth.

Nagoya is situated in the centre of Japan. To get to the city, fly into Nagoya International Airport. You can also travel to Nagoya via high-speed train the train ride from Kyoto is just over 30 minutes and the train ride from Tokyo is 80 minutes. Passengers will arrive at Nagoya Station, right in the city centre.
