The best area to stay in N'Zalat Bni Amar is within the Medina, particularly around the Batha Square and Bab Bou Jeloud (the Blue Gate).

This area is the historic heart of Fès, offering a truly distinctive experience. The Medina is a UNESCO World Heritage site, a labyrinth of narrow, car-free alleyways filled with artisan workshops, souks (markets), and traditional riads. Batha Square is a key landmark, providing a more open space and often a meeting point, while Bab Bou Jeloud serves as a grand entrance to the older parts of the Medina.

For couples, staying in a riad within the Medina provides a romantic and secluded retreat. Many riads offer beautifully decorated courtyards, rooftop terraces with views over the city, and traditional Moroccan hospitality. It's an ideal base for exploring the ancient tanneries, madrasas, and intricate architecture, allowing for a relaxed pace of discovery.

Solo travellers will also find the Medina a good fit due to its central location and the sheer volume of things to see and do right on their doorstep. It's easy to spend days wandering the different souks, discovering hidden gems, and sampling local cuisine.

The best time to visit N'Zalat Bni Amar is during the autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) months.

These seasons offer pleasant weather, with warm days and comfortable evenings, making it ideal for exploring the local area and enjoying outdoor activities. You'll find the landscape lush and green from spring rains, which is superb for nature walks or day trips to the surrounding countryside.

For those planning to explore the nearby city of Fès, these months avoid the intense heat of summer and the cooler, sometimes rainy, days of winter.
