There is a public Lake Michigan access less than 1/3 mile north across from the Red Rooster Tavern. It’s a 10 minute walk. The picture shown is the steps leading down to the beach. It’s very private.
At Making Waves Cottage, outdoor adventure awaits while a comfortable, peaceful interior lures you “home.” Choose your morning coffee from the extensive coffee bar and enjoy a continental breakfast on the oversized porch furniture while watching the sunrise, conversing with friends, and watching the wildlife. In the evening, have dinner on the peaceful and secluded wrap around porch as a distant sunset projects’ vivid color on the night sky. You may have to share with the fireflies and deer.
Getting to the house: As you drive toward the house with Lake Michigan to your west, you’ll notice a mature tree lined road with abundant wildlife and private settings. Approaching the property, you’ll find a secluded location and a natural circle driveway leading up to the house. Enough parking for 6-8 vehicles & your fishing boat! You’ll see yard furniture, a grill, and outdoor games. The yard has been sprayed with safe tick & bug repellent. You’ll enter the front of the house on a wood deck, use the smart lock device to lock and unlock the front door. There is a video Ring doorbell. Upon entering, you’ll find an entryway equipped with coat hooks, a built-in bench, and shoe storage. A coffee bar with a large variety of coffees, creamers, sugar, & machines are available to make your perfect cup of coffee. We have a regular drip coffee machine, Ninja Specialty Brewer, Nespresso machine, cappuccino machine, and a Keurig. There is also a coffee bean grinder available. The breakfast amenity is continental in nature and a random offering of granola bars, bagels, fruit bars, eggs, instant oatmeal, and other items.
The living room is the center of the house and flows to the main bedroom, bathroom, upper level, and the kitchen. An open concept floor plan connects the sitting or game room and living room where you’ll be able to relax and watch television on the comfy couch and chairs, play games, or use the area for a dedicated workstation. A ceiling fan, plenty of natural sunlight, and a 70” television make this a great space for any activity. Special touches include a stenciled compass game/workstation table and a large, vintage metal Fish Market sign, local to this area. Central air conditioning is included.
The totally renovated bathroom is equipped with a double vanity so multiple people can use this functional space simultaneously. A shower bathtub with removable shower head, plenty of towels, washcloths, a hair dryer, and various toiletries are available. Special touches include a vintage painted buffet that was curated specifically for this bathroom and a blue tooth speaker fan which allows you to listen to your favorite music or podcast directly from your phone!
The main bedroom has a king size bed with king and body pillows and a comforter. The 4 windows have curtains and black out cellular blinds for late sleepers. Amber night lights promote restful sleep while providing just enough light for nighttime wandering. A sitting area with seating allows privacy from the rest of your guests or use as a space for baby/kids. Also in the main bedroom is a full-length mirror, and a large double closet with hangers, robes, a pack & play, beach towels, extra clean towels (dark for cleaning up an accident or showering), vacuum cleaners, wet swiffer, large roaster pan, and a small dresser.
Off the living room are 12 wood stairs leading to the upper level where you’ll find 2 bedrooms, a wide hallway that looks over the stairs, and two large closets perfect for keeping all your belongings neatly out of the way. Bedroom 2 includes 2 queen sized beds, black out cellular shades, and amber night lights completing the bedroom for restful sleep. Bedroom 3 includes 2 queen size beds, black out cellular shades, and amber night lights. The bedrooms are separated by a wide hallway area which has closets with hangers and shelves to keep your belongings organized. This hallway area is large enough for kids to sit on the floor and play or grab a beanbag and relax. A box fan, 2 small electric heaters, and extras are kept in the closet. Plenty of space for your belongings.
The fully equipped galley kitchen has a dishwasher, electric stove/oven, microwave, and side by side refrigerator. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare and cook all your meals including a toaster, rice cooker, large electric roaster pan, Ninja coffee and ice coffee maker, cappuccino machine, Keurig, Nespresso machine, 2 crock pots, pizza oven and more. Plenty of silverware, plates & bowls, new Pioneer Woman pots, pans, knives, and accessories complete this functional kitchen. Special touches include the large, hand crafted one of a kind live edge wood ceiling light fixture and stenciled tile floor.
Through the kitchen is the dining or sun room area where you’ll find a vintage glass top, wrought iron table that seats six. The sliding glass door allows a seamless flow to the wrap-around exterior deck area. Oversized, comfortable patio chairs make this the perfect summer spot to hear soothing Lake Michigan waves while sipping your favorite beverage. Special touches include a vintage license plate ceiling and handcrafted pipe ceiling light fixture. Guess how many Michigan license plates there are?
Off the dining room are the wood stairs leading down to the lower level. Here you’ll find a painted open area with a twin bed, a large rug, floor pillows, a futon and large smart tv. A great area to just lay around, do yoga, watch tv , play board games or use the table and chairs as a workstation. The laundry area is curtained off and includes a washer and 2 dryers.
The outdoor area and yard feature a fire pit with plenty of seating and firewood on a natural 1.5 acre lot with moss, trees, and shrubbery. There is plenty of room for outdoor yard games. There is a beach cruiser bicycle and a men's mountain bike available for use. There is a wrought iron patio table & chairs, a chaise, and an outdoor bar with 4 barstools. Enough seating for 15-20 people. Perfect for outdoor meals, games, and hanging out around the fire pit. The house sits off Scenic Drive which is a popular summertime road for motorcycles, bicycles, runners/walkers, and Sunday drives. As weather permits the outdoor areas will be spruced up and décor & furniture will be added.
Other things to note: * I can provide cleaning during your longer stay if requested for an additional $75 fee. * Please do not park on the grass, there is room for at least 6-8 vehicles in the wraparound driveway. * The double stall detached garage is undergoing remodeling but will not disrupt your stay. No work will be done while guests are present. We kindly ask that you not enter this area.

My family and I, including 4 kids 8 and under, stayed here for a beach getaway. It was a perfect location, quiet, clean, and well stocked with all the essentials. My kids loved the large yard with plenty of toys and being surrounded by huge trees. We loved being just a few miles from Muskegon State Park, where the beach was lovely and clean. We would love to return one day.

Kelly had everything taken care of for us---there was no reason what so ever to contact her. Her attention to details in decorating made the cottage very comfortable. Will definitely consider this if going that way again.

This cute little home was the perfect size for our group while we were in town for a wedding. The rooms are laid out perfectly for a large family! Our teens thought the basement area was so cool but ended up sleeping upstairs. The kitchen is beautiful, loved the coffee options. We got in late and we’re unable to grab groceries but thankfully grub hub DOES deliver! The home is equipped with everything needed. We definitely battled it out over several games of uno. Highly recommend this home!

My group of four friends had a wonderful time at this property. We were impressed by how well stocked everything was, we had everything we needed! The neighborhood was very quiet and the road nearby not too busy. The walk to the beach wasn’t bad although there isn’t much of a shoulder so keep that in mind. A couple cars were very inconsiderate so we ended up driving most of the time, there is a small area for parking. We had fun exploring other beaches nearby as well. Thank you to the owners for sharing your home!

Just what we were looking for. Secluded cottage, but with easy access to entertainment activities. The attention to details was obvious. This host knows how to take care of guests. Everything we could have needed and more. In 4 nights: We watched sunsets on 3 different beaches, drove ORV in Silver Lake, ZipLined, Rock climbed and Luged at the Winter Sports Park, enjoyed a day at Michigan Adventure, cooked in and dined out, read books, and played many outdoor games. Highly recommend.

This property was so clean and spacious! It doesn’t look that big from the outside, but there is plenty of sleeping and lounging spaces to easily be comfortable for a larger group. The walk to the beach was a little farther than I expected (along a busier road) but it was worth the trek. You can’t beat Lake Michigan sunsets!

This was a perfect home for a mommy and kids get away. There were a lot of special extras I do not typically find-snack tower, bananas, bagels, english muffins, and the best was root beer and ice cream for floats!!!
Very clean!
