The hotel is in an ideal location to explore the old town and beyond by foot, but still quiet despite the central location. The bathroom was modern with a great shower. We were grateful to be offered a very early check in after travelling for over 24hrs.

Room cleaned daily, staff super helpful, lovely breakfast. The rooms were airconditioned but common areas weren’t which was uncomfortable at times as it was extremely hot during our stay.
Terrific location to tourist destinations, public transport and dining.
Enjoyed our stay immensely.

No food available at hotel. Is available nearby.
Only issue is that there us no kettle or cups in the room to make yourself a cup of tea or coffe once reception closes.
We carry our own tea bags and milk, so we do not need hotel supplies, but not being able to use them is a deal breaker for us.

This hotel was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had a medical issue on arrival and the reception could not have been more helpful and concerned. They assisted with where we should go and contacting transport to the local hospital.
Thank you so much Hotel Deutsche Eiche we will forever remember your concern and hope to be back again someday under better circumstances.

We had a wonderful stay at Obermeier, and managed to use public transport into Munich effficiently. The breakfast was amazing, and we also made good use of the lovely reception and bar areas. Staff were incredible, and very understanding when I flew off with my room key!
It would be very hard not to return if I ever came to Munich again.

We booked this hotel on the basis of other Expedia / TripAdvisor comments and we were not disappointed. Upon check-in (we arrived early) we read a sign on the desk that the sauna would be closed during our visit, which was annoying as we booked the hotel as it ticked this box. The person checking us in voluntarily called the assistant manager who very kindly offered us a room upgrade and breakfast as compensation.....which we accepted. Could not complain about our room on the 3rd floor, had a...

I rarely write reviews though the team here deserves some recognition.
Too often these days front desk service values efficiency over friendliness. Not here. The team are efficient but couldn’t do enough to help.
From printing OBB tickets to local restaurant recommendations, help understanding public transport and the best bars in the local area, they couldn’t have done more to help me out.
I particular Blanka from the Front Desk team. Just wonderful.

The best area to stay in Munich is the Altstadt (Old Town) for its central location and access to major attractions.
The Altstadt is the historical heart of Munich and is largely pedestrianised, making it very pleasant for walking. It's home to iconic landmarks like Marienplatz, with its famous Glockenspiel, and the Frauenkirche. The main shopping streets, Kaufingerstrasse and Neuhauser Strasse, run through this area, offering a wide array of shops and restaurants. You'll find many hotels tucked away on quieter side streets.
Couples will find the Altstadt particularly appealing. Its central location means you're just a short stroll from cultural sights like the Residenz and the Viktualienmarkt, a large outdoor food market. Evenings can be spent enjoying traditional Bavarian cuisine in one of the many historic beer halls or restaurants.
For travellers who appreciate a quieter setting but still want to be central, the area around the English Garden, particularly Schwabing, is an excellent choice. This district offers a more residential feel with tree-lined streets, independent boutiques, and cafes. It's a bit further out than the Altstadt but still well-connected by public transport.
Schwabing is ideal for those who enjoy a leisurely pace. You're right next to the expansive English Garden, superb for morning walks or relaxing afternoons.
