Off-the-Grid Cottage in a Remote Big Island Village

  • This cottage is in a very remote area of the Big Island, called Eden Rock. The trip is on paved roads. The area is native rain forest. Despite regular rain, the trees only reach about 40 feet tall because of the poor soils. The cottage is entirely off the grid, with no land-line phone cables, or water or electric lines. Verizon works here. Internet comes from the Starlink satellite system. The cottage has a double bed and a bathroom, complete with a relaxing bathtub. Guests will enjoy a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind after a day of exploring. The space feels enchanting, offering a perfect blend of comfort and charm. Experience what Pāhoa has to offer with a grocery store, several restaurants and coffee shops and a hardware store. Phone service is excellent with a cell tower close by. During our hurricanes, the cottage is well away from the coast and has experienced no damage.
