Hotel Saint-Laurent Montreal

"I have rated based upon price, location (for what we wanted), staff and room size. I'll cover both positives and negatives. On location, the hotel is convenient for the 747 bus to/from the airport. For the return journey the stop is less than 50 yards away. It is a good option for $11.25 each way and only takes 30-40 mins. The rooms themselves are more apartments than hotel rooms. We got a 2 bed which was large with a separate bathroom, kitchen/lounge. We found the rooms quiet and slept very well (using the crude scoring from our Garmin watches). Overally very happy with the apartment although there are some negatives. The furniture is a little dates, the tv's small and old and could just do with some money spent. House keeping once a week if staying more than 7 days. For the price though and compared to other options available I am happy to rate 5 stars. Staff were very helpful including giving us a late check out free of charge. Each time we approached the front desk for help they were excellent and answered all our questions. The location was ideal for us (we were in town for the Cycling World Championships) but obviously may not work for others. The metro system is great though and you can get around on foot or bike (for hire). Overall, very happy to recommend, but some may want somewhere more modern or want daily housekeeping. For the price we left happy."

"Spent two nights here in September. Good hotel for tourists. It’s less than a 10 minute walk to Old Montreal. As far as the rooms go, didn’t spend a ton of time there but the bathroom (and the whole rooms too) was clean, the shower worked great and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There is a decent bar in the hotel lobby. For a short tourist stay in downtown Montreal it is a nice, clean and affordable option. The room I stayed in did smell a bit like smoke on check-in but running the room fan for a few mins."

"We gave it a 7+. The location was outstanding! We were visiting for two nights and three days for the World Road Cycling Championships. The hotel is within walking distance to Mont Royal, excellent restaurants, and plenty of nightlife. Despite the very convenient location in a very popular location, the hotel was surprisingly very quiet at night. We would have given our stay much higher marks if it weren’t for some annoying inconveniences. The air conditioning was controlled only by a remote control which didn’t work and despite the fully equipped kitchen, we were unable to make dinner after buying food simply because there were no functioning can openers available. These are small details that turned a potential excellent experience into a mediocre one. These are cheap and easy fixes that will make a huge difference!"

"Value for price is excellent. After shopping around for a reasonably-priced, well-located, and full-service hotel, Faubourg was a logical choice. It was clear upon reading online reviews that it's not a luxury property, which is both true as well as not necessary. What was needed was sufficient space for two adults, one with a bicycle; central location for easy access to events (UCI World Championships) and transport; and services including breakfast, laundry, luggage storage, etc. The room was decently comfortable but without frills, the kitchen was not used other than for its convenient sink and fridge, space for personal belongings (dresser in the bedroom, closets) was adequate, having a balcony was nice (though some seating there would be welcome), but the bathroom could be cleaner and needs some attention to detail (dusty and broken - but functional - light, tub spout is loose, tile floor seems dirty, damaged, or just an odd design). The breakfast buffet wasn't great, but it gets the job done if you need a quick meal before a busy day; I supplemented with better coffee and snacks at cafes. In short, the Faubourg met expectations all around and in a city of expensive lodging is well-worthwhile."

"Excellent and convenient location especially for those travelling on the vIa rail Canada. Grab and go type facilities and 2 dining options. Great room and plenty of elevators. Melissa at the concierge was a definite standout. Incredibly helpful with all our queries and really went above and beyond to physically show us where to take a particular bus from outside the hotel."
