"Our stay at Opal had some positives, but the check-in experience and overall communication were disappointing and set the tone for the visit. At arrival, there was confusion around our reservation and very little proactive communication from the staff. We weren’t clearly informed about what was happening, what the delay was, or what to expect next. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we had to keep asking questions just to understand basic details. Throughout the stay, this lack of communication continued in smaller ways—information wasn’t clearly shared, and we often had to follow up ourselves rather than staff anticipating needs or keeping us informed. To their credit, the hotel did offer some compensation (drink vouchers and breakfast), which was appreciated. However, those gestures didn’t fully make up for the initial experience and ongoing communication gaps. For a property at this level, I would expect a much more organized and proactive approach—especially at check-in, which is the first impression. With better communication and clearer coordination, this could easily be a much stronger guest experience."

"Nice hotel in a good location. Comfortable rooms. Thought the housekeeping staff were pretty lapse. Never refilled our coffees each day so had to keep phoning down to get replaced and also did not top up toilet paper etc - not what you expect of a hotel of this calibre. Overnight parking was pretty expensive too. "

"Overall, this was a very good place to stay, very clean. The pool was very small; the two bathrooms connected to bedrooms were very small; and the back pool area was so infested with mosquitoes we could not sit out there. For the price I was anticipating higher end furnishings, but we found most everything in working order and well stocked. If you have a large group, this house should work well for you. We did walk to Atlantic Ave, which was only several blocks away."
