"Amazing place and great location , Joao and his staff were very accommodating and helpful during my stay , would highly recommend and would book again when I’m back in Amarante , the breakfast at the bakery across the hotel was amazing and the staff there were very nice and helpful as well , I was in town in to prepare for a cycling race and they helped with a breakfast box the day of my race. "Great accommodation with an amazing panoramic view. The rooms come with a river view and I don’t think I found better views anywhere else having driven around the region! The hotel is beautifully furnished with a nice terrace, living area and dining space overlooking the river. There is a kayak hire close by where you can enjoy a paddle along the Douro or the calmer Bestança. Helpful guys running the place. Breakfast is good; basic but sufficient, with eggs to order. A few things would have elevated the stay. The pool could do with a clean as there were insects. The dinner was disappointing and I would not recommend. There is a small kitchen, so options are limited, but despite this, the quality was underwhelming for the price, and it would be better heading into Cinfaes for a meal 15 min drive away. Overall a great stay - particularly for the views!"

"Great place. We had a spacious suite with a nice river view. Close to a river walk which takes you all the way to the 1st big lock on the Douro. Breakfast came in a box to your room every morning with fresh bread, pastries, cheese, ham, orange juice & coffee. Kitchen was also well equipped. We would definitely stay there again."

"This was one of the nicest properties I’ve stayed at in years. A truly special place that is unmatched. The views, the amenities, the accessibility, the cleanliness, the beautiful rooms, the nature, the wildflowers everywhere, the farm to table dining. There isn’t enough positive things I can say about this place. If I’m ever in Portugal again - I’ll be sure to make a special trip to the Douro Valley just to stay here."

L’auberge est d’une propreté impeccable et spacieuse! Nous avons apprécié de pouvoir utiliser ustensiles et vaisselle pour se préparer des repas froids. La vue est imprenable sur la vallée du Douro. Elle est encore plus magnifique que sur les photos qui ne lui rendent pas du tout justice! Il y a plusieurs endroits pour s’installer à l’extérieur et profiter de la vue!"

"This is by no measure a 5-star property, but a well used 4-star facility. The upkeep is not really up to par, with mold in the bathroom, bathroom doors peeling severly due to water damage, stained towels etc. The breakfast is fine, but, again, not up to 4-star standards (including 5-star hotels in Portugal). The common spaces like the dining room show extensive damage due to use (and lack of maintenance?) and there's peeling paint in the hallways. However, the staff were exceedingly friendly and the price we paid in mid-May (around 150 € per night) was right for a 4-star place."

Alles war sehr sauber, ruhig und perfekt zum Entspannen. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir die herzliche Gastfreundschaft und die angenehme Atmosphäre. Für Babys war alles vorhanden – das hat unseren Aufenthalt als Familie unglaublich entspannt gemacht. Ein großes Dankeschön an João für die herzliche Betreuung und die tolle Unterstützung während unseres Aufenthalts. Ein perfekter Ort, um die Schönheit der Region zu genießen – wir kommen gerne wieder!"

"We had an incredible visit at this magnificent property. Victor greeted us with such hospitality and we felt very welcomed in his beautiful home. The home was immaculately clean and it is nestled in such amazing surroundings. We traveled with our extended family with a group of 6 and there was plenty of room for all of us with private bathrooms as well as full views of the vineyards from each of the bedrooms. In fact, there is a total of 5 bedrooms so plenty of room for extended family. The pool was very relaxing and the outdoor spaces are fantastic with outdoor seating for meals and for enjoying wine by the pool. The beds were very comfortable and the home had a fully stocked kitchen. The location was remote but perfect to feel like you are immersed in the culture. Victor is great about providing things to do during the day and day trips. We took a day trip to Porto and one day trip to a winery, one day trip to a boat wine tour and we went hiking and exploring on our final day. If you are traveling with a group I would recommend a small car as the roads are narrow. We rented two small cars for a group of 6 and it was perfect. We have traveled extensively and this home is at the top of our list and we will definitely return to this beautiful location again! "
