Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
There are some details that are missing about this property, and if we had known them beforehand our stay would have been more bearable Our cabin did not have any of the amenities listed. Upon entering the cabin, the only contents of the cabin were a table, a barstool, and a bunk bed accompanied by a long twin. There was no electricity, insulation, running water, or bedding. Photos display a wood burning stove - our cabin did not have that. The temperature dropped below 45 degrees on both nights of our visit We had put food in the cabin while exploring the area. Upon returning, we found that chipmunks had chewed a hole in the corner of the window and had eaten our food. While cleaning, we found empty bags of dog food from a previous guest. There was also no way to lock the sliding glass door, the primary entrance and exit which takes up a wall and faces the access road There are some redeeming positives. The location is a perfect central home base for exploring the rich history of the copper industry. It lays roughly 30-45 minutes from Copper Harbor and Houghton, both of which are UP must sees. Other attractions include the A E Seaman mineral museum and the life saving museum in Eagle Harbor If you book, be very cautious and come with the right preparations. Pack as though you are actually camping - bring the right stuff for the weather, be prepared to not have electricity (can not bring your CPAP), keep food in airtight containers, and keep your values incredibly close
