When our canoe/camping getaway plans were flooded out by Mother Nature, Slate Drake Cabin provided refuge from the storms. Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed the property and comfortable amenities it provided.Amid the lighter rain showers, the boys were able to get in both fly fishing and spin casting. Their efforts were rewarded with not only a sense of peace found on Penn's Creek, but on the fish they reeled in: Rainbow; Brooke; Small Mouth Bass and a shiny 7" minnow native to these waters.Other wildlife entertained our family, as well as a curious river otter, a ground hog, and a nest of hatched and unhatched turtle eggs. Crayfish were plentiful in the creek, as well.Everyone agreed, it's been a long time since we all rested so peacefully and slept so soundly. As our schedules permit, we shall return.
