Spacious Classic Cabin Retreat- near Lassen
Classic winter retreat for an extended family or multiple families. Three common areas make it easy to spread out - read a book in the living room by the propane fireplace, play games in the dining area or play upstairs in the lounging room with foosball and a closet full of kids costumes. Take a snowshoe hike or go sledding across the street. A true escape to focus on family and friends.
Mill Creek is a small community of former US Forest Service cabins only 15 minutes from the entrance to Lassen National Park.
This is our family cabin that we happen to rent out when we aren’t here. It is filled with games, puzzles, books, snow clothes, snow shoes, extra food, drinks and a full medicine cabinet. Our kitchen is completely stocked. We leave baking and cooking supplies and ingredients here for ourselves, but feel free to use what you need. The fridge and freezer are yours to use. You can also leave an ice chest outside the sliding glass doors in the kitchen for extra space.
There are four sleeping areas and bedding is provided. Downstairs there is a master bedroom with attached bathroom with bathtub & shower, one bedroom upstairs with queen bed and a door, the other two bedrooms upstairs are loft style and do not have doors. One loft area has a queen and two full size beds. The other includes two twins that can be pushed together for a couple. There is an additional bathroom with a bathtub/shower off the living room. TOT Permit Number P-00001
There is a washer and dryer for your use. There is a bluetooth speaker in the dining room to play music off your cell phone.
Occasionally during a storm, the electricity can go out. We now have a propane generator that can run the fireplace for heat if this happens.
If there is snow on the ground, we recommend you arrive while it is still light out. You will need to park across the street and carry your belongings to the cabin which is approximately 30 yards off the street.
The nearest gas is in Chester, 25 minutes away. We recommend you have plenty of gas before you leave Chico or Red Bluff to head up the mountain.
There is limited cell phone reception in this area. AT&T and Verizon LTE are usually, but not always, good from this location.
We do have wifi, but it a cellular hotspot which means that it is great for email and browsing, but not streaming.
Staying in a cabin like this can be a little extra work at times, but is worth the effort!
Main cabin, deck, campfire ring (you will need to bring your own campfire wood)
Email, texts, calls.

Our two families enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Plenty of space for our large group. Everything we needed was in the cabin. David responded quickly to my question and made sure we had everything we needed.

Lassen cabin
Nice location close to Lassen stocked with lots of games, books, and cookware. However there were some cons: showers were full of hair from past visitors so didn’t drain well and never got hot. It took hours for the hot water heater to heat up so that would’ve been nice to know. We had to carry our stuff in from the street since the driveway wasn’t plowed. Instructions for check out were not super clear or detailed. Overall it was a good stay.

Vintage, retro, family cabin
If you want to stay in a northern CA, retro, early 1900’s with updates, one family owned cabin this is your place. It’s got the original wood kitchen cabinets and checkered linoleum floor with enamel sink, no air condition, no garage, and more details of its time period. Closets and drawers have owner items but there’s room for your things, too. The staircase is steep and wood, not toddler or senior friendly. Both bathrooms are on the 1st level with 3 bedrooms of 4 located on the 2nd level so you have to do the steep steps for a middle of the night bathroom visit. Pluses were a plethora of board games, a fuss-ball table and deer roaming in the yard entertained our group of children 1-6 years old. Negatives were lack of window screens for cooling down the house in summer and mediocre bedding. Modern cabin was not what I would title the listing but we enjoyed our stay.
We had a great stay while exploring Lassen for a few days. Peaceful setting (saw plenty of deer!), stocked kitchen, plenty of space for us all. No a/c but plenty of fans and cool nights. Recommend getting groceries in advance and there are a few restaurants not too far. Great communication and helpful information from our hosts.
Lovely property! Went for a family reunion. We all enjoyed sitting around the enormous fire pit every night and everyone had space to dissappear when they needed a break from family. The space was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed to relax, including a tieout for the dog!
We loved this property! It was homey, clean, had beautiful surroundings, and was affordable. We loved sitting around the large table and playing board games. We would love to come back in the future!
This property was in a nice little neighborhood just 15 minutes from the entrance to Lassen NP. The house had lots of beds, game galore! and nice outdoor fire pit.
Our group had an excellent stay! Everything was just as described. We enjoyed the hammocks in the backyard, the large selection of games and puzzles, the variety of room setups, and if we hadn’t been so tired from our travels, I’m sure the fire pit was amazing!
If you have a baby that is mobile, the stairs are a bit treacherous. I wish we had brought a baby gate but didn’t expect one to be provided.
Would definitely stay again!

Great Place, well kept cabin
We just had a wonderful vacation at this cabin. It is clean, well kept and spacious. Kids enjoyed the Hammock, bouncer and swing in the backyard. I would like to thank David & Kelly for renting us this amazing place to us. I just want to point out about one thing of course its not about cabin but its about gas. There is no Gas station in 30-40 mils radius so be sure to fill up the tank before you enter Lassen park.
Stayed with 2 families (8 people total) and it worked well. About a 20 minute drive to the southern entrance to Lassen park.
Nice outdoor space for grilling, hanging out and seeing friendly deer. The kitchen worked well for cooking. Bathrooms are ok but worn. Wifi and laundry worked well. Solid boardgame collection (Twilight Struggle!).
Basically nothing nearby, so stock up on gas and groceries before you get here.

Disliked: Amenities
- The showerhead in master bedroom was lose, needed to ajust before use it,
- Not recommend for people who has pet allergy. It is ped friendly property.
- The matress at right side corner next to window in the three bed room was in bad codition. Very unformable. I got stiff neck and headacke and sleepless.
- Stuffs are old, but clean.

Classic Family Cabin
My sisters and I grew up during summers in MIll Creek. When a construction delay on renovations prevented us from staying in our own home we elected to rent. This cabin, very near ours, was charming and welcoming. It is not set up as a rental, but rather you are stepping into someone else's home.
All of the systems work perfectly: heat, warm water, etc.
The beds, linens, etc are all perfectly fine and as expected.
If you are a chef the kitchen is not set up for you.
This cabin worked out great for us and we left happy with the opportunity to reconnect with the glory of Mill Creek.

Nice, Clean, & Comfortable Cabin
Great location, only 15 minutes away from Lassen Volcanic National Park. Quiet and convenient cabin. Lots of space for kids to run around, including a bouncer outdoor. My kids love it and don't want to leave. We had a great time. I already started recommending this cabin to my friends and planning to be back during snow season.

Great Vacation Rental!!!!!
Stayed here for an early Christmas. Was very quiet and comfortable. Full kitchen amenities made for excellent holiday dinners. Close to Lassen National Park, which is where we found the snow. Mill Creek has a neat little general store with a post office and diner. Will be here again. Thanks!!

Great cabin in a wonderful area
Every year we take our children & grandchildren on a long weekend Family Vacation. This cabin was perfect in a truly amazing area. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep and hang out. Lots of seating for meals made it truly a family gathering. The fire pit was a great place to make s'mores!
There is even a doe who frequents the cabin in the early evening.
Just a few miles up the road to Lassen Volcanic National Park - a true wonderland of beauty.
We would definitely stay here again.

Mill Creek Cabin
This was our 15th winter up to the Mt. Lassen area and the first year our housing was so great! We loved, loved this house. It is in a beautiful location. Very quite. There is a lot to do right outside the door. (hiking, sledding, snow shoeing). The house its self was very comfortable. It is clean and well stocked. There was a lot of space so we could spread out. The house has everything you need to stay. We wished we stayed longer! We will definitely be back!!
