MAISON BORRÈZE

MAISON BORRÈZE

10/10 Excellent
"Absolutely beautiful new hotel. Warm welcome on arival and excellent show around and room check in. The room was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. Separate living area, bedroom bathroom and private terrace. Nice to have air-conditioning during the hot weather. The pool was lovely and also over seen by the bar staff who give you a bottle of chilled water when you get there. The bbq on a friday is certainly worth doing the food and cocktail were amazing 5 out of 5 for everything."

Hôtel Bon Encontre

Hôtel Bon Encontre

10/10 Excellent
"What a lovely hotel to stay for a few days and explore the local area. Our room was very clean and comfortable with aircon and a minibar. The pool area was stunning and a perfect place to cool down in the recent heatwave. Christine was so welcoming and suggested different places to visit whilst we were there. Yes it’s up a hill but really not too bad to walk back up from the town if you take it steady. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sarlat."

Auberge du Puits

Auberge du Puits

8/10 Good
"This is beautiful and quirky hotel in an old part of the town centre of Souillac. Owners appeared to be welcoming and charismatic. Lady owner communicates in English if struggling to speak in French. Rooms presented to be very nice and clean, while beds very comfortable. Bathroom appeared to be clean but would benefit from a little renovation. There is shower in the bathtub but no rail to attach it, which was a little bit inconvenient. There is cafe and dinning room downstairs, which seems to attract a lot of locals. Breakfast is served in the dinning room, though I would personally rather have something to eat elsewhere. Hygiene standards in the dinning room are not what I am used to, and are somehow low."

Hôtel du Château

Hôtel du Château

8/10 Good
"La situation de l'hôtel est un atout certain ainsi que ses nombreuses aménités. Nous avons en effet été témoins de certains problèmes rapportés dans d'autres commentaires comme la prise qui se détache. La chambre était petite, mais propre et les lits confortables. La dame au comptoir était charmante et vraiment aidante. Le sentiment est celui d'un village vacances qui souffre d'un certain vieillissement, mais notre expérience a été très bonne. Le séjour s'est très bien passé, mission accomplie."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Milhac?
The best area to stay in Milhac is within the village centre itself or in the immediate surrounding countryside, as this offers the most convenient access to local amenities and a tranquil setting. The village of Milhac is quite small, centred around its historic church and a few local businesses. Staying here means you're just a short stroll from the village shop for essentials, and you'll experience the quiet, relaxed pace of rural French life. The surrounding area is characterised by rolling hills, fields, and woodlands, dotted with traditional stone farmhouses and gîtes. For families, staying in a gîte or a larger rental property just outside the village centre is ideal. These properties often come with private gardens, swimming pools, and ample space for children to play, offering a comfortable and self-contained base for your holiday. You're still only a few minutes' drive from the village for supplies, and it's a great spot for exploring the nearby countryside and attractions.Couples looking for a peaceful escape will also appreciate the quiet charm of Milhac and its surroundings. Many smaller gîtes or bed and breakfasts offer an intimate setting, great for relaxing and enjoying the unspoiled natural beauty of the Lot region.
When is the best time to go to Milhac?
The best time to go to Milhac is from late spring (May) through early autumn (September) when the weather is warm and the region is at its most welcoming.May and June offer pleasant temperatures, typically in the low to mid-20s Celsius, making it ideal for exploring the countryside and visiting the many outdoor attractions before the peak summer crowds arrive. The natural landscapes are lush and green during this period. This time is great for couples who enjoy hiking or cycling through the picturesque Lot Valley.July and August are the warmest months, with temperatures often reaching the high 20s or even 30s Celsius. This is peak season, so the villages and popular sites will be busier, but it's also when all the local markets, festivals, and outdoor activities are in full swing. Families will find plenty to do, from swimming in the Dordogne River to exploring local caves, and the long, sunny days allow for extended evenings outdoors.September brings slightly cooler, but still very comfortable, temperatures and fewer crowds as the school holidays end. The autumn light is beautiful, and it's an excellent time for enjoying the local gastronomy and wine without the summer rush.
