"Lovely hotel, fabulous areas to relax and enjoy a coffee or drink in the evening. Had a room in the old part of the hotel and it was clean, spacious and had a traditional feel"

"Location is great. Rooms at the front of property are noisy, traffic and late night passersby. Manager very helpful and friendly. Yes, I would stay there again but would request a Room on the back as I am a light sleeper."

"Birds farm is a lovely place to stay for the local Essex or Sussex area. Very quiet in the evenings, despite being just off a busy road. Great facilities, good comfy beds, very warm heating and well supplied cooking facilities. A pool for summer, grounds and a Summer house and a well stocked games room for kids if the weather is bad. We found it superb for our short trip and would happily return. As we were a little out of season it seemed that some of the cottages opposite ours were being...

"Hosts are very welcoming and helpful. The room was very modern and lovely & clean. When we did stay it was a very hot weekend where the room was hot, would of been nice if there was a fan in the room that we could of used.
Free parking which is an added bonus. Only short walk into Colchesters main town. Would recommend to anyone."

"Breakfast was great and room was fine but the noise was terrible. Incredibly loud music right underneath the room until gone 11pm. Expensive concert considering that but might be better if you avoid Friday nights. "

Charming 2-bedroom terraced house in quaint West Mersea
10/10 Excellent
"The house was small and cosy, with a view of the sea from main bedroom. Garden was big, but a shared one with the house you go past to gain access to the property( also there appears to be a small dog that lives there). It was clean and had the necessary equipment required. On a lovely day the front door was left open for a breeze to come through off the sea which was so relaxing."
"When I first walked in, I loved it as it was a boat and I’ve never stayed on a house boat before.
Communication when I booked was excellent and we checked in early.
Upstairs was grey but downstairs (beds) was dark and smelt damp. There was no main TV control, used the TV buttons but couldn’t adjust the sound. No full length mirror nor a mirror in the bathroom so I did my make up looking at the toaster. The inside windows and tables were dirty, blind was broken but the main thing was the “security”… Anyone can walk up to the boat and stare through the windows at the front through the (eye level) windows as they aren’t covered. My partner had to leave early and it really worried me as I couldn’t even cover them with anything as there wasn’t even hooks etc. the main bedroom downstairs smelt, the light fell on me so we took the duvets up the very narrow stairs and slept on the sofas. Lovely area, unique place to stay.

"good location and quiet site.the caravan had all the amenities described but the cleaning needs to be more thorough-crumbs left around ,basin not perfectly clean, torn curtain in one room.Almost good but needs more TLC"
