Cabañas el Manantial

Cabañas el Manantial

10/10 Excellent
"The place is beautiful, and the sights are amazing. I especially loved the incredible view of the volcano. However, what I didn’t like was the bathroom. The electrical box is placed in a location where, every time we take a shower, the handle gives us an electric shock. This is very concerning and should be addressed for the safety of the guests. The place is beautiful, and the views are amazing. I especially loved the beautiful view of the volcano. However, there is a serious safety concern with the bathroom. The electrical panel and electrical wiring are installed inside the bathroom, very close to the shower. Every time we took a shower, we could feel electricity coming through the shower handle. This was very concerning and made us feel unsafe. I strongly recommend that the electrical system be inspected and repaired by a qualified electrician before other guests use the bathroom. For your safety, I would avoid using that shower until the electrical issue has been checked. Feeling electricity through a shower fixture can indicate a dangerous electrical fault."

4-bedroom house in fabulous Isla de Ometepe with AC, WiFi

10/10 Excellent
"Time flies when people enjoy places like this. We enjoyed this beautiful House!! There were a few concerns with the fruits that were piled up and uncleaned under the mango tree. It attracted many wasps and mosquitos that didn't allow us to really enjoy the outside without getting bit or almost stung. The rooms were very spacious and organized but they weren't as clean, some had cobwebs and a lot of dust and a few dead ants and such. Minor details compared to our comfort at stay. Mainly, there was big power outages our first two nights where the power would go out completely for the whole house for long hours. We had a bit of food in the fridge that did go bad, and saved the rest when the power came back about 5-6 hours later. Other than that, the house was very accommodating and it was a nice experience for our stay on the island."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Merida?
The best area to stay in Merida is the area around Parque Central, also known as Parque Colón, which is the heart of the city's historic centre. This neighbourhood is the main hub for visitors, known for its historic architecture and lively option. The park itself is a central meeting point, surrounded by the Merida Cathedral and the Palacio Municipal. The streets radiating from the park, particularly Calle 60 and Calle 62, are lined with restaurants, shops, and cultural venues. It's very walkable, making it easy to explore on foot.Couples often find this area ideal for a romantic and cultural trip. The evenings here are particularly pleasant, with street performers and local artisans often present in and around the park. Many boutique hotels in this area offer charming courtyards and private pools, providing a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring. For travellers interested in art and culture, the Santiago neighbourhood, a short walk west of Parque Central, is an excellent choice. It's known for the Santiago Park and its traditional market, as well as a growing number of art galleries and smaller, independent cafes. This area offers a slightly more local feel while still being very convenient for accessing the main sights.
When is the best time to go to Merida?
The best time to visit Merida, Nicaragua, is during the dry season, which runs from December to April. This period offers consistently pleasant weather, making it ideal for exploring the island and enjoying its outdoor activities.During these months, you'll experience less humidity and clear skies, which is great for hiking Maderas Volcano, kayaking on Lake Nicaragua, or simply relaxing on the beaches. The roads and trails are also in their best condition, making travel around the island straightforward.Families and couples will find this period particularly appealing. The stable weather ensures that planned activities, from horse riding to nature walks, are unlikely to be interrupted by rain. It's also a great time for wildlife spotting, as animals are more active in the drier conditions. While December to April is the prime time, it's also the most popular, so booking your accommodation and activities in advance is a good idea.
