Search Medrano hotels

The best area to stay in Medrano is within the village itself, particularly around the central Plaza Mayor.

Medrano is a small, traditional La Rioja village, and staying in or near the Plaza Mayor puts you at the heart of its quiet charm. The village is compact, with narrow streets, stone houses, and a relaxed pace of life. The 16th-century Church of Santa María de la Asunción is a prominent landmark, and you'll find the local shop and a couple of traditional eateries within easy walking distance.

For couples looking for a peaceful retreat, Medrano offers an authentic experience away from larger towns. You can enjoy strolls through the vineyards that surround the village, visit local bodegas for wine tastings, and savour the regional cuisine.

The best time to visit Medrano is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the Rioja wine region. Temperatures are generally mild, making it comfortable for vineyard tours, outdoor activities, and enjoying the local cuisine al fresco. The spring brings blossoming landscapes, while autumn is the harvest season, which is a particularly engaging time to see the vineyards in full swing and participate in wine-related events.

Summer (July and August) can be quite warm, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, which might be less comfortable for some visitors, especially those sensitive to heat. However, if you enjoy hot weather and plan to spend time by a pool, this can still be an enjoyable time to visit.

Winter (November to March) in Medrano is cooler and can be quite chilly, with a higher chance of rain. While it's a quieter time to visit, some smaller wineries might have reduced hours, and the landscape is less vibrant.
