Matlock Bath has many attractions, including an outdoor geo-thermal spring-fed swimming pool. Reach the Heights of Abraham by cable car. Matlock has a range of independent shops, bars and restaurants. Nearby Carsington Water has a visitors’ centre, restaurant and shops; walk or cycle round the reservoir.
Local circular walks direct from your property include Chatsworth House and Gardens, Haddon Hall, Matlock walking along the River Derwent, Matlock Bath, Oker Hill, ancient Cambridge Wood (SSSI), Wensley Dale gorge, The Heights of Abraham, Youlgreave village, Stanton Moor and the ancient Nine Ladies stone circle as well as the Limestone Way. The Matlock to Bakewell bus stops at the end of the drive and will also drop you off at any of the following Peak District villages to enjoy a pleasant walk back home - Birchover, Elton, Stanton in Peak, Wensley and Winster, as well as Haddon Hall.
Darley Dale Station, a mile away, is on a heritage line run by Peak Rail and can be used in the same way as the bus service to create walks back home. Enjoy a canal boat ride at nearby Cromford and visit Arkwright’s Mill as well as the historic plague village of Eyam or take an underground boat trip at Speedwell Cavern. Book a canoe trip down the River Derwent from Darley Bridge to Matlock Bath or have an historic tram ride at Crich Heritage Village.

There was everything for a lovely relaxing holiday.
There was everything for a lovely relaxing holiday. Excellent hosts , othing was too much trouble, very caring. Only snag for us was that we are in our 80’s now and hill hill down to a very good pub was difficult for us, 10 years younger and we would absolutely love it !,, Wish Jeremy and Kathryn, all the best with their future projects.
