Staff very helpful. Non intrusive. Bures(cottages) very private and very well kept up and very romantic. Great food. Attentive wait staff Small venue. So it’s very private feeling. Amazing opportunities to snorkel very close by. Not on the best beach for a swim but can have a private experience on a private beautiful beach to yourselves 5 min boat ride away. Pool area well maintained. Tables at mealtime well spaced so can have own conversations. Opportunities to do some fun excursions.

The accommodation was excellent as was the food. We also loved the beautifully kept gardens and found the resort very peaceful and extremely relaxing. The daily snorkelling trips were good although it wasn’t encouraged to snorkel in front of the resort due to boat movement so you had to wait for the 2 trips a day and rely on good weather conditions. The staff as always in Fiji were welcoming and lovely. Would recommend for couples needing to relax and unwind.

Beautiful location. Guests we met were very nice. Huts were beautiful too. Very disappointed in the condition of the equipment (especially diving equipment). Also disappointed in the offered tours....they were not an option unless other guests agreed upon the same tours. You could still go on tours, but had to pay double the amount stated.

Paradise!

Stunning resort and with only 12 bures you often feel you have the island to yourselves! The bures themselves are spacious and beautifully designed with a great outdoor shower. Good food, friendly staff, excellent snorkelling excursions twice a day as well as a large number of other activities. Can't recommend this resort highly enough.

Our stay at the Matangi Island Resort was above and beyond our expectations. It was truly paradise. The location is unreal. Truly a private island surrounded by coral reefs. The accommodations were lovely, clean and unique. The staff were so friendly and hospitable. The food was delicious and the service was superb starting from the airport transfer. It’s the perfect place for relaxation. There are so many complimentary water activities including paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkeling and great hiking and walking trails. We particularly appreciated the opportunity to have a whole afternoon to ourselves in the famous horseshoe bay where we swam, snorkeled, paddle boarded and enjoyed a lovely picnic that the staff prepared for us. The staff treated us like royalty and we only wish we could have stayed longer. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone - couples, families or friends.

누구에게도 방해받지 않는 진정한 휴식을 원한다면, 이보다 좋은 곳은 없을 것이다. 모든것이 완벽했지만, 우리를 가장 감동케한 것은 그들의 <손님에 대한 배려>였다. 그 배려 덕분에 200% 만족스런 휴가를 보낼수 있었고.. 이에 우리가 겪었던 한 일화를 소개하는 것으로 그 <배려>에 대한 감사의 마음을 대신하고자 한다. 우리는 빅 피쉬를 잡아보고 싶은 욕망(?)에 트롤링 낚시를 나갔었다. 하지만 5시간의 헤맴에도 불구하고 결과는 단 한마리도 못 잡는 대실패였다. 50만원이 훌쩍 넘는 거금을 쓰고도 빈손으로 돌아왔으니 우리의 실망은 이만저만이 아니었다. 다음 날, 웬 할아버지께서 낚시를 나가는데 같이 가지 않겠냐고 물어왔다. 이게 웬 떡이냐 따라갔고, 이번엔 대성공! 거의 60Kg에 육박하는 대형 참치를 잡았다. 나중에 알고보니 그 할아버지는 이 리조트의 오너셨고, 우리가 전날 허탕친 사실을 알고는 일부러 함께 나가자고 하신 것이었다. 공짜 낚시에 대형 참치 잡이를 경험케 해주신 것만도 너무나 감사했는데.. 그날 저녁 우리는 오너 할아버지의 또 한번의 배려로 참치 사시미까지 먹을 수 있었다. 그리고 직원들은 잡아온 참치를 보며 모두가 자기 일처럼 기뻐해주었다. 그동안 꽤 많은 리조트를 다녀봤지만, 이 정도로 손님을 배려하고 생각해주는 곳은 처음이었다. 혹시 피지 여행을 계획중이라면, 이곳에서 우리가 받았던 감동을 똑같이 받아보기를 강력히 추천한다.

It was absolutely beautiful. The beachfront Bula was breathtaking. The staff were EXCELLENT. Extremely helpful and friendly. The only room for improvement is the food. It's way overpriced for what you get and it's mediocre.

Exceptional Place, Great People

I normally don't post reviews but Matangi Island hit it out of the park! The staff took care of transfers from the airport (by car and boat) before we arrived. We were met at the airport and ushered to the island. The staff greeted us singing with coconut juice waiting. Very nice after a long plane ride. The room was great. The food was excellent and different every day. Before we left, I was a little worried about what we would do for a week on an island. I shouldn't have been. There are numerous snorkeling spots around the island, the picnic in Horseshoe Bay was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, we hiked the island and my wife LOVED the spa. There was more to do and we ran out of time. One last thing, the staff makes the private island experience. They went out of their way to provide service with a graciousness and warmth that I have never experienced elsewhere. Getting to know the people of Fiji and Matangi Island was a treasure. We'll be back...

The best staff, location, & experience in Fiji

We loved it. The staff are second to none and we never wanted for anything. The island itself is pure South Pacific perfection and the resort facilities covered everything we wanted. There's very little to add; if what you want is relaxation, peace, beauty and the authentic Fiji experience away from the crowds (and kids), then you cannot go wrong at Matangi. Thanks to all the staff for making our seven day stay one of the most magical holidays we've ever had.
