"Staying at Tanah Gajah in Ubud was an absolute highlight of our time in Bali. From the moment we stepped onto the property, we were blown away by the level of care and hospitality. The staff here are truly extraordinary. Every single team member made us feel genuinely welcomed, greeting us by name every day and anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Whether we needed recommendations, help with logistics, or just a quick chat about our plans, everyone was incredibly warm, attentive, and super helpful. The resort’s amenities were top-tier across the board. The serene pool, lush paddy field surroundings, and quiet, spacious grounds provided the ultimate peaceful retreat after exploring the island. Every detail of the estate feels thoughtful, luxurious, and deeply connected to Balinese culture while delivering modern comfort. If you are looking for an authentic, high-touch luxury escape with world-class service in Ubud, Tanah Gajah exceeds every expectation. We can’t wait to return!"

"Sanctoo villas is beautiful accommodation and the people there are wonderful. We stayed for three nights in total and stayed in the “llama room”. I’m not sure what classification of room this is as it’s not actually what we booked. Word of caution. We booked a family suite and included the ages of the children in the booking (6 and 9) and were charged as such. When we arrived the suite has one bed and we were expected to sleep in one bed with the four of us. There was a sofa they offered to put a sheet onto at an extra charge but this wasn’t suitable. We paid to upgrade our room in the end but this would have been a real problem if that wasn’t available. Other than that, the zoo is great, the pool is lovely and the grounds are beautiful and well kept. The lemur apartments were a real treat. They are in the zoo so you are right in with exotic birds, lemurs and a wallaby. A real treat (be prepared for an 0600 wake up call though from the animals. This room specifically) The chef is awesome. The food was beautiful. Everything we ate was of high quality and there are a good few children’s options. The serving and reception staff are a credit to the hotel and our girls loved talking with them. It’s billed as a 5 star hotel and there are some minor bits that stop that. Can’t charge to room, they do a 3for2 beer offer, we ordered two but didn’t see the offer and they didn’t make us aware charging for 2 with no third. In room drinks average etc."

"This is an OK hotel in between 2 very nice hotels. Staff are nice, rooms ok. Our AC smelled of mold and sometimes sewage smells. 2 of our 4 rooms were pretty good. We had a rat in the outdoor kitchen but it seems a challenging thing to prevent…"

"Booked for 6 nights but ended up staying for 3 weeks. It’s an intimate resort nestled next to a black sand beach away from the main tourists areas, which allows for a more authentic Bali experience. It features four spacious villas, filled with beautiful artwork the owner has collected. Made, the property’s driver, is a wonderful host and is filled with recommendations and will graciously take you any place you want to go. The staff is warm and wonderful and will treat you like family. The talented onsite chef will fill your belly with an endless array of delicious dishes, and there is something for even the pickiest eaters. If you are an animal lover, the owner will let you play with his dogs. There’s also an onsite DJ, Hypunx, a virtuoso behind the decks, who despite his name will remind you of sunshine. The owner lives onsite part of the year and if you are lucky enough to visit while he is there, he may ask you to join him for dinner, which is a must. The Villa is an incredibly special place. While I visited as a solo traveler, it would be the perfect spot for a destination wedding or other celebration. The owner wouldn’t be satisfied unless I said that it’s not the Four Seasons because he doesn’t want to oversell it and he’s right the Villa is something entirely different - it’s nirvana. Love you all."
