Just stayed at this rental over the Labour Day long weekend with a large group of friends. Great place that has all the essentials for a great time. Lots of space for relaxing and activities. Great location. Water is fantastic. Would recommend.
We enjoyed our time at this large cottage on the water. The hot tub was great. The canoes, paddles and life jackets made for a number of fun adventures and the big yard with the badminton/volleyball was also wonderful to have.
The inside of the cottage had a great layout for us and we all slept well in the comfy beds. We were warned to be careful with the hot water, but never had any issues, which was great.
We were surprised that the BBQ was included on the list of amenities, but that we were required to bring our own propane tank, if we wanted to use it. We were also surprised that we were required to take all of our garbage and recycling with us. If we had used the dump, it would have cost $5 per bag, which seems like a cost that should be included in the VRBO.
It was also disappointed to arrive and have the dishwasher not working. The host was quick to respond and gave us some extra time at the end of our stay to hand wash the dishes, but it seems to me that making sure the appliances function well should be a part of the host’s job before the guests arrive. We were fine to wash dishes by hand and would not have chosen another VRBO if it had said the dishwasher wasn’t available, but it would have been nice with a group of 17 to be able to use one.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Nice place, lots of rules and lax upkeep.
The rental was overall ok, but with some issues.
The host messaged with instructions prior to the rental, with instruction and rules about the property.
The host asked for a $500 deposit for the use of the Hot Tub via e-transfer. We did not send a transfer, and we didn't use the Hot tub at all as a result. Disappointing when the ad specifically advertises a Hot tub.
The dishwasher was broken, as noted in the other reviews. I notified the host as soon as we found out it was broken. The host did not have anyone come fix it, despite saying someone would come. It likely will not be fixed anytime soon. We had to wash all the dishes by hand, very annoying and time consuming.
The knobs on the stove are not the right ones, and we burned out pasta sauce for Friday dinner. Be careful, the split elements have different settings than the knobs show.
The property was well kept, grass was cut and furniture was in good shape. We brought propane, as specified but someone had left a tank already.
The rooms were all as advertised, the bathrooms were clean and there were plenty of plates, cups and cooking supplies in the kitchen. Arcade machine and foosball table all worked well and in good shape.
Location is good, but lots of boat traffic on the river. Swimming was still good despite the boaters. Fishing was good, with lots of pike in the area.
My friends and I were staying for my bachelor weekend. The cottage was perfect for our needs. Plenty of sleeping space, amazing outdoor space and very clean. The management team were also very responsive.
The cottage is just as described. Perfectly private and so quiet. We were delighted to be able to sleep with the windows open at night and no need for AC.
You are close enough to the town that you can pop in for breakfast or groceries which was perfect for us (5 mins away) as we don’t always have the time to get super organized before a vacation :). Yet even though you are close to town you feel like you are away from it all.
We enjoyed the hot tub as well. So nice that it is shared with people staying in the cottage.
There was also an arcade room located upstairs overlooking the ground floor. Was so fun to be able to play games and still feel like family is just around the corner to chat.
The backyard is crazy big, and the firepit was such a nice touch its absolutely beauitiful at night.
We hope to return!
This large cottage and it’s views are breathtaking!! The backyard views are even more stunning in person, and we had the pleasure to stay during the fall season with leaves changing. The hosts’ communication was extremely fast, and they were very accommodating. The house was stocked with all the bedding, towels, linens, kitchen supplies, games, etc. we could need. I would absolutely recommend this house to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway with river views.AMAZING band new hot tub!! love the cool large arcade in the home. extremely kind and accommodating host… would absolutely stay again and highly recommend!!!!!!!!
Had a really fun time at this cottage. The cottage was exactly like the pictures shown and better. Everything from inside and outside was great and enjoyable. It was really nice, clean, and comfortable for our group of 16 to stay. It had the right amount of beds for everyone and bathrooms.
The host Tommy was very quick in communicating with us and addressing our needs. He even gave us recommendations of places to check out within the area. Would definitely recommend this place and would not mind coming back again in the future.
The Good:
- Property is good size with updated furniture
- Very clean
- Property lot is large and has good inside and outside living spaces.
- Internet is included along with Netflix
- onwer was responsive to requests and communication
The bad:
- The water is ok for swimming, but there are lots of weeds and zebra mussels. The best area for swimming is the sand bar in Crowe Lake, but you have to canoe for about 15-20 min to get there.
- Only one canoe is provided which is not sufficient for a large group
- Bedroom with bunkbeds is more like a closet
- Another bedroom is actually two day beds in the dining room area
- only 3 bedrooms have closets
- 2.5 bathrooms for 20 people is insufficient
- No access to laundry to wash towerls, for this size property, this is a bid disadvantage
- Limited access to supplies, owner provides limited cleaning/bathroom supplies.
- no cushions are provided for the outdoor furniture.
The ugly:
- The water smells! This was the biggest issue we had. Luckily, a Brita filter can sufficienly clean the water for drinking, but showering and washing hands and face in this water is awful. The owner should provide Brita filters for guests instead of asking them to bring drinking water.
We were a group of 17 people (4 families) that stayed for a week. The property certainly fit our group and had enough living and sleeping areas for everyone, including outdoor living space. Outdoor activities are ok, but with only one canoe, we couldn't be on the water together. Swimming wasn't the best off the dock, but we made our way to the sandbar at Crowe lake which is a great swimming area. We also used the bridge next to the property to dive into the water (about a 10' drop). The water is deeper and clearer.
The owner was responsive when I communciated with him. I was really surprised at the limited amount of cleaning supplies provided (no kitchen towels, no lysol, 12 dishwasher pods to be exact). For a large group and after Covid, I can't imagine a property not provided sufficient cleaning supplies.
Two adult life jackets were missing which the owner supplied the next day and also brought in a Nespresso machine which was nice. The onwer asked to buy my own Lysol wipes/disinfectant and he would pay me $20, but he never sent the money as promised. This property has great potential if the owner invests in a couple of kayaks, more cleaning supplies, access to washer/dryer and water filters.
