While we did not actually stay at the motel, we were treated very well by the owner Tim Scully. Due to issues, he contacted us and had made arrangements at another place for us, and he paid for it. This was a very unexpected thing for him to do, and very much appreciated. So since we did not see or go to Scully's, I am not qualified to answer some of the questions. Thank you.

The owner Tim was great and very accommodating as far as checking in and out. Room was very clean. Motel is a little bit from town but not bad.

Roadside motel, room was clean. Light bulbs were out, tv reception snowy due to poor connections or too many. Outside of motel a lot of vehicles parked seemed like out door storage for RV and cars. Got what we paid for. Ok for a place to sleep.

Sorry for your experience.We have Dish network, and I would like to have known if there was a problem in your room because chances are it was just weather or a loose connection.The vehicles parked 20yards to the west of the motel are not stored but used for my other business and in no way are a disturbance to my hotel guests…You are the first person to comment as they are neatly arranged and they in no-way impede on my motel operation.There are several sources of lighting in each room.Light bulbs burn out and are replaced as soon as we are aware of them. What room did you occupy?

My husband and I stayed 3 nights. The man who checked us in was very nice. It was clean and quiet. I wish that there had been someone to supply clean towels, toilet paper, trash removal, bed making but no one came to our room or called or delivered clean linens. Continental breakfast was advertised but not supplied. 2 of the 3 mornings we went up to get coffee (all outside due to the fear of covid I’m assuming) there was none. There was no continental breakfast and the hot tub that was also advertised was not open (again I’m assuming covid) but if this was because of covid the I feel the prices should have been adjusted. This room was not cheap ($118.00 a night).

I was surprised to see this reveiw.I had a couple interactions with you, while you were here and you didn’t mention any of these things.Was it in retaliation because I pointed out that when you booked the room you led us to believe there would only be 2 people staying. It wasn’t until you were on your way here that you let me know that there was going to actually be five of you. I told you then that I would have to adjust the price.The adjustment only increased your bill by 90 over the entire 3 nights.There is a sign on the outside office door that clearly states that we are open, on a limited bases until further notice…due to covid concerns. This officially includes breakfast, the hot tub. Although I am able to make exceptions to vaccinated guests for hot tub users. Sorry you misunderstood.The coffee pot may have been drained when you went for it butmost people that empty the pot, start another. Right next to the pot is everything need to make unlimited fresh pots, 24/7Also at the front office window is a large tote that has extra towels,cups, toilet paper, garbage bags.My personal cell phone numberis prominently displayed…”for service”.I did not get a call or a text or even a message to this site, while you were in the house.On the inside of your door there was a “housekeeping needed” sign that customers will put out to let us know they are in need of service.Expedia was suppose to update our limited amenities. Thank for letting me know. The room was fine, It was stated in the listing that breakfast was available, that is one of the main reasons why I booked this place. JUst to find out on the day of that breakfast is no longer being provided. I am hoping that they update their listing for future guests

Sorry for the huge misunderstanding on the continental breakfast.I was told that was updated as we discontinued continental breakfast that in January 2020 and haven’t resumed yet, although we do have coffee available and oatmeal packets available. I will follow through on that now and I will would like to offer you a free night depending on availability.

This motel worked well for us. We were looking for a quick overnight stay on our way further north. This older motel has had some updates and we found everything clean and tidy. We were OK with the COVID protocols and contactless check-in.

great stay on a budget
I booked this because it was the least expensive Motel over memorial day weekend. I wasn't expecting much for the budget friendly price but I LOVED it. It's nestled in the Manistee forest and the view is spectacular. I have never stayed at such a quiet motel, I couldn't believe we weren't the only guests. The rooms are a bit dated but they are very clean, the pillows are fluffy, and rooms come with a refrigerator and microwave. They offer free Wi-Fi, and we had no problems with it. The only TV is satellite so remember that those aren't perfect and can be spotty. They don't have usb outlets so you'll need to pack your own.

If you are person I think you are, I explained to the gentleman that booked the room, that I was requesting our guests be vaccinated. After I explained to him that my neighbor, an 84 yr old veteran who helps out with my laundry, he told me he understood and told me he would have no problem getting a test, before coming. Am I crazy for turning down $35,000 in bookings the last 2 yrs you may be right but you are not right about covid being over you are misinformed. Tuesday, June 28, 2022 New COVID-19 cases up 10 percent as deaths also rise After five weeks of steady decline, new COVID-19 cases in Michigan rose 10 percent to 12,008 for the week ending Tuesday. That put the daily average at 1,715, a 10 percent increase from the 1,546 daily average reported last week. Detroit and 36 of the state’s 83 counties reported increases, but overall rates remain relatively low. The state also reported 146 COVID-19 deaths, the most in weeks. Of those, 107 were in June and 32 in May. After a steep reduction in cases and deaths following the surge caused by the omicron variant in late December and through February, monthly deaths fell in March (546) and April (267). So far 427 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in May and another 239 in June. Also slowing was the reduction in the number of COVID-19 hospital patients statewide. In the last month, hospitalizations had fallen from 1,146 to 777. Since Monday, though, there are only four fewer COVID patients in Michigan hospitals. Over the past week, 12.5 percent of the more than 105,600 coronavirus tests came back positive, up from the 12.1 percent the previous week. The number of tests being sought rose over 10 percent from the 95,200 the previous week. Across the nation, other variants of omicron are blamed for increases, and Michigan is now reporting that those variants are comprising an increasing share of local cases. The two variants — BA.4 and BA.5 — have shown an ability to infect those who had prior infections or who had been vaccinated, according to The New York Times. No services was not a true statement but I will do my best to not leave anyone with that impression again, beginning with the booking process. In order to safely operate during a global pandemic our lobby has been closed since March 2020. At one time the online service gave notice to this policy as well as our request that all guests be vaccinated or recently tested w negative results. If you did miss this during registration the front lobby door and window have my covid safeguards prominently posted. If there was any misunderstanding my cell phone number is also located in several spots. I never received a call. After you checked out and we were running your card to cover your stay, you asked me about a few issues you had involving you not noticing the signage up front, involving the coffee maker, extra towels and toilet paper. All of which were indeed readily accessible and available. At that time I explained that I was going to adjust your bill to make it right with you … and I did. Yet you felt compelled to try to tarnish my efforts to stay open and safely host guests? Very discouraged by your 2 star review and am now considering closing, like I did last November through May. In the mean time I will review and update my covid polices to avoid further confusion of a very few unsupportive guests.

Yes there is Wi-fi, the password is posted on the front door along with my cell phone number if you had any problems. It is satelite internet which is all that is available in this part of the county. We have wifi extenders that seem to work for 100% of everyone else. Most guests understand that in the middle of the National Forest that speeds and connections are not as fast as they may be used to. No call from you the entire 2 days you spent here so I could have had a chance to help you with either of these issues. As far as a possible fish smell, we do everything we can to keep that issue under control during salmon season, including powerwashing porches and parking area right outside your room. We also implore fishermen to not process fish anywhere on the property other than the fish cleaning table, that is at least 200 ft away from entrance to your room and normally down wind. If the wind did in fact come from the east for a portion of your stay, I apologize. The expensive double grinder attached to the cleaning station usually keeps odors to a minimum. The first thing I did before I sat down to reply was I inspected the room and detected no fish smell… at all. I have clear nostrils and I then personally checked cleaning station and that has always been cleaned and deodorized with bleach and again there’s no smell there, at all. There are also signs reminding anglers to not track into their rooms with smelly shoes or wadders. We usually pick up on any foul smell when sanitizing between guests and turning over rooms. Not sure how we could have missed that, as we are always on the look out for that this time of year. Please let me know what I can do to get you to take down this damaging review… Number 1, I Should’ve been given a chance to address these issues in real time, not after you left. Number 2, had I been able to collaborate your concerns, I am confident I would have been able to make things right with you, while you were still here. Number 3, I think it’s a damn shame that somebody that didn’t even pay for their own room, has the need and nerve to try to put a blemish on a pretty good reputation of value, comfort and excellent customer service.

Scully's was cute, quiet, safe and easy to find and access. There was plenty of room for us to park our trailer carrying our atv's. The service was very accommodating and kind. The check in time is earlier than most places which is awesome! The hot tub is great after riding nearby trails all day, but you need to turn the temp up at least an hour & a half before you actually want to get in so it's actually warm enough. I understand that's a way they conserve electricity, so just know ahead of time. It's a cute little area to hang out with friends too.

There was not an error w your reservation…and you know it. When I left to go to my other job, your room was waiting for you, as promised. During my short absence my grandson arrived unannounced and occupied the room without checking with me. From the time you called me until the processed room was turned over to you, was less than 45 minutes. You also failed to mention that I waived all charges for your room.. to compensate for my grandsons mistake. You stayed for FREE. You accepted my apology and the free room then. Just not sure why you would post a bad review, considering the resolution you readily accepted. then. Gee thanks. 10 years of satisfied customers, now tarnished by something out of my control. This issue has never happened before and should never happen again. My contention that if you didn’t pay for the room, you have a good reason to NOT post a damaging review. Please consider retracting this blemish, soon.

The room was clean. Scully is one tough Hombre. He will give you a parking lesson! Coffee service is outside and the box is full of bugs. This place is for sleeping only! There aren't any amenities.

I’m Tim Scully and I have fixed the problem even before your review hit the site. The bugs you mentioned, were a few tiny red ants, that live in the sandy soil of the national forest, that surrounds us. When I do put coffee out now the ants will no longer be stalking the sugar bowl. As far as amenities we offer during the pandemic, we are risking our lives just being open for business. We were closed from March through June 2020 and again from mid November 2020 through June 1 2021. We will remain open to vaccinated and immune travelers only. Our lobby will remain closed, however and I will make no apologies for that. As far as parking, I will continue to ask customers to keep vehicles back 3 to 4 from the curbs, in front of your rooms. It is important to me that guests are able to walk completely around their vehicles, on a level cement surface. There is one exception and that would be room 12, where we ask guests to park parallel next to the curb in front of there room. For those needing an explanation, I point out an overhanging corner of a new service building that I worry about a taller profile vehicle such as a propane truck, travel trailer or motorhome hitting.

Great place to stay.
This place is old school, really clean and a great place to stay. You got an actual metal key for the door, the TV had a large back on it. They had cable and some wifi. Plenty of parking for my boat trailer. The place is real clean inside and out. Located right off the main road, easy in and out access. No trees in the driveway to have to go through. Its nice and open.
