Rustic inn in a quaint town. We stayed during an unprecedented heat wave. The air conditioning unit had a hard time competing with the warm air that was coming out of the return. We opened the windows which worked great. A screened door on the porch door would be great. Overall easy check in/out and staff was very responsive.

Gorgeous location and an adorable kitchen garden right outside the guest rooms. Bathroom wasn't the best maintained (sink doesn't really drain all that well) but a minor wart on and otherwise lovely place.

Good food and a pleasant stay

The Inn and Tavern are listed on the National Record of Historic Places. The people are very accommodating. The room in which we stayed and the restaurant were very clean and tidy. The exterior could use a bit of spring clean-up and maintenance. Our stay was in the early spring. Perhaps that process is about to begin.

Upon our arrival, we were delighted to find a thoughtful selection of snacks waiting for us, a perfect pick-me-up after our journey. But the real highlight was the homemade banana blackberry bread – it was absolutely divine, warm, moist, and bursting with flavor. It felt like a true taste of home, and we savored every bite! Cute little place to stay for the weekend. Staff was very friendly and supportive. The room was adorable. Only problem i had was when i went to shower friday night i had no hot water but i think thats because the kitchen was still open down stairs.

I travel a lot for work on my own in remote areas of NH & VT, so finding a safe and comfortable place to stay is very important to me. The staff at Birchwood were so kind and welcoming. My room was well prepared and very clean. The only thing that made me a little nervous was the back door in the room because I was unsure if the lock actually worked and only a thin see through drape covered the window. Just something to be cognizant of for young women traveling alone! Overall, I loved my stay and would definitely come again!

Seemed friendly until they wanted to close an hour before closing time on a Saturday. Be sure to have a back up plan for something to do after 8 o'clock on a Saturday night if you are staying at the in, because Carmen is not hanging around just for you...even if you had a $100 dinner and tipped her $40...kinda lame.

Birchwood Inn is great vintage inn! Perfect stay for our family visiting for a show at The Range. Hosts are gracious and food at the Inn was excellent. BlackBerry Banana bread for breakfast was a hit. Will definitely be back.

The Birchwood Inn was out of the way, but it was worth it. It was a nice country in on a very quiet road. Our room was very comfortable, and snacks as well as a continental breakfast was included. A restaurant was attached to the Inn and although we didn't eat there, we had a drink at their bar and the atmosphere was very friendly. The staff could not have been nicer or more friendly.

My room was warm and cozy on a very cold New England night. If you’re going to be in New Hampshire you should at least try a night at the Inn. Read your favorite poem and have a glass of wine downstairs if you’re lucky enough to be there when they are serving dinner. Would recommend and will visit again when I’m in the area.

Very cozy place! Owner was very responsive to our needs. Nice selection of breakfast items and snacks in room. Convenient parking. Close to area restaurants/businesses. We stayed over Christmas so the onsite restaurant was not open but it looked quite nice. Only thing that could be improved is the scent used for the linens, as it was a bit strong. Otherwise, would definitely recommend for anyone needing to stay in the area.
