We had so much fun here! The purpose of our trip was to visit Mammoth Cave, which we did and was incredible. Cabin 6 was THE BEST place to come “home” to after exploring the national park. The cabins and property were exactly as pictured and there is so much to do! We all enjoyed the waterfall/cave (GORG), the kayaks and bass boat, the playground, and bonfires in the evening under the stars. The kids loved the loft area & bear theme in the cabin too. The ONLY thing was that the ferry was closed, so it took a little longer to get to/from Mammoth Cave visitor center (40-45 min drive), but honestly was not bad. This place was perfect and hope to make it back some day!!
We loved the cabin on the lake. The property is gorgeous with hiking, a cave and waterfall. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck with a view of lake. In the evening, there’s deer in the meadows. The cabins are new and well appointed and exceptionally clean. It’s an easy 45 minute drive to the visitors center and tours to the National Park. On the way we bought produce, fried pies and brick oven pizza at the Amish market, Peace Valley Market. It really was the real deal Amish and the pies were delicious. We also loved that the property was very dog friendly and my dog enjoyed the lake. After breakfast at a nearby cafe, we called and stopped to pet the Basset Hounds at Buck’s Bassets. We had a great vacation and we plan to return again.
Everything was as described in the listing. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed every minute of it. Each day we did a side trip somewhere in the area. Before or after our day trip we spent the day kayaking, hiking, or swimming in the lake. The cabins are far apart that we felt like we were the only ones at the resort at times. The communication, organization, and thought put into every aspect of the property did not go unnoticed. We will be back!
Cabin 6 was super peaceful and perfect for a family weekend away. I learned cabin 7 would have been adjacent to the playground, but still it was only a 3 minute drive around the lake to the kayak haus (10 a day to rent a kayak), playground and pavilion. The cave we hiked to was really cool! 80 steps on a staircase are part of the hike, so we left the grandparents comfortably behind, on the porch rocking chairs. The cave had a Red river gorge feel with a very small waterfall (it’s late July and probably needs more rain). We even saw cave crickets and a couple bats!I was delighted the bugs were not an issue in the least. I never saw one mosquito! Dagmar also had our cabin comfortably stocked with a roll of paper towels, several toilet paper rolls, sufficient laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent, Keurig coffee cups and creamers…I would have packed less if I had known!I only regret that we stayed only 2 full days and 3 nights. With the surrounding Amish country, horses and buggies on the roads and mammoth cave 40ish minutes away (the ferry is out this summer due to flooding) we could have spent more time at these cabins. Hope to be back!
