Calm waters, ocean breezes and restaurant terraces provide relaxation during the day, while bars and music rule the night at Valencia’s popular urban beachfront.

Float in the warm Mediterranean Sea, join beach sports and take long sunset walks at Malvarrosa Beach. Along its attractive waterfront promenade you’ll see heritage villas, popular bistros and bars.

Drive a short way north of Valencia’s main port and relax on Malvarrosa Beach. Work on your tan on lounge chairs available for hire or enjoy the ocean breeze under a shady umbrella. Public bathrooms and drinking fountains are provided along the beach for the comfort of visitors.

The Mediterranean waters here are calm and temperate. Feel safe while you swim with lifeguards patrolling the beach during summer. Swim between the flags that mark out the safest areas.

Make the most of sports facilities located along the beach. Join in a friendly game of volleyball, basketball, soccer or rugby or stretch on exercise stations. Hire windsurfing equipment or a Jet Ski and head out onto the water.

Enjoy a meal at a restaurant or food stand along the beach’s tree-lined promenade. Take a seat with a view on one of many café terraces and savour authentic Valencian paella. Kids are catered for with playground areas located along the beachfront. Adults can stay well into the night in pubs, nightclubs and karaoke venues.

See the manuscripts and belongings of famous Valencian writer Vincente Blasco-Ibáñez in his former home, which is now a museum.

Get to Malvarrosa Beach by bus, tram or metro from Valencia city centre. This 7-kilometre (4-mile) journey east from the Old Town takes around 35 minutes. There is free parking nearby. You’ll find ramps for wheelchair access and a medical care station that offers bathing assistance. The beach is free to use, although you’ll need to pay for amenities such as shade umbrellas and lounge chairs.
