"Hotel Sofia is a very nice, well appointed hotel near the airport. Some late afternoon aircraft noise, but no problem overnight. On a side street so quiet, but only 100yds to public transport to city. Also a range of shops and eateries in same area. Pool area good. Breakfast had a good selection. Would recommend. Staff very friendly and helpful."

All of the staff we have interacted with have been the most caring and attentive people I have ever met, especially at the Makuti bar day in day out they even recommended us some films to watch. The pictures of the place you see are exactly what you get. If you are like us and do not often experience people waiting on you hand and foot it’s a surreal experience but something that makes the trip So amazing. The dining experience - just WOW! Food I have never tasted to be so amazing! Always have the lamb medium rare you won’t regret it. Welcome drinks on arrival and they let you enjoy everything how you want to not how they expect you too. I can’t thank everyone enough for my stay it’s been something I’ll never forget and nothing will live up to this. If you have the chance to come - you won’t regret it!! "

"The property was in a convenient location for the ferry port, which we used for transportation from Crete to Athens. The hotel staff were excellent and always helpful. The only drawback is that it is hard for any tour transportation to pick us up at the hotel. "

"It must’ve been the first day that the resort was open because it was really quiet, not a lot of people and a lot of open space. Resort is gorgeous, and I was traveling alone! The food at the resort was spectacular."

"Staff (5*), Hotel (3.5*), Meals (2*) Negative start, we booked a superior double and we got a single with a small double against the wall (2nd person crawls on the bed), 1 side table, 1 coffee ☕ confirmed it was a single. Positive, Robert arranged an upgrade (extra cost). Appreciated upgrade but disappointed with the original room allocation. The staff were awesome (Stella, Joanna, Nassos and Djemalie Facilities as expected, communal toilets clean, bar was on occasion busy and pool loungers were usually booked by 10am (European guests booking loungers before breakfast😒😒). General: Loads of shops and restaurants close by and Malia strip is walkable. Sunsets on the beach are worth the evening walk. A few noisy or inconsiderate male guests but they calmed down when no one paid attention. If meals were improved this is a hotel I would revisit. Con: Meals were just ok 🙁 There's a selection and meal theme varied but nothing made you feel like having seconds. Some days it was difficult to find something you wanted to eat. We ate lunch out most days in small village taverns and that was 😋 Breakfast varied but fried eggs are not served daily, when they were they were slow cooked in oil not fried As with most buffets people waste a lot of food. The a la carte meal was better than buffet but again felt like it was missing something. Again the team serving were the high point, dishes were served fairly quickly and drinks topped up."
