Terra Hotel Tirano

Terra Hotel Tirano

10/10 Excellent
"This is a modern boutique hotel about two three blocks from the train station. There is a secure gate that requires a code once you check in. The same code is used for the front door as well as your room. We made a mistake of telling the hotel we would be arriving in the early afternoon and then showed up at noon. Because this is a very small hotel (12 rooms, I believe) the front desk is not always staffed - but someone is there. We were caught in the rain trying to get through the gate. Just something to consider. Our room was stylish, fairly large, and quiet despite being on the main drag in Tirano. What really impressed us were the towels. Wow! These towels were so big and fluffy! For such a reasonably-priced hotel you are getting some very nice towels. Breakfast is included and was quite good. Italian hotels tend to make a big effort for breakfast. This hotel wasn't quite up there with some of the hotels in bigger Italian cities, but then those hotels are typically much more expensive. Another plus: the hotel is associated with a restaurant next door. They give you a discount card good for 10% off dinner. Do not pass up this offer. The restaurant is excellent."

Ostello del Castello Tirano

Ostello del Castello Tirano

8/10 Good
"A charming, historic property with a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. I loved the aesthetics of the property overall. There was a courtyard with basketball and other balls available, perfect for my kids. The location is walkable to restaurants, and we were provided with a helpful map to navigate the city. The staff were welcoming. Breakfast on site was a lovely amenity (with a cost). While I appreciate the eco-friendly choice to air dry guest towels, it led them to smell strongly like mildew and feel too rough. There was one liquid soap to use in the shower. Without air conditioning, the room was uncomfortable for us in the summer heat though others might be more acclimatized. Overall, the experience was somewhere between a hostel and an inn."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Malegno?
The best area to stay in Malegno is within the village centre itself. This central area of Malegno is small and charming, with its main streets, like Via Nazionale, offering direct access to local shops, cafes, and traditional restaurants. The village is located in the Camonica Valley, providing stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the Oglio River. Its compact nature means most amenities are just a short stroll away. For couples looking for a relaxed and authentic Italian experience, staying in the village centre is ideal. You'll be right at the heart of daily life, able to enjoy leisurely meals, explore the historic church of Sant'Andrea, and find peaceful spots for walks along the riverbank. It's also a convenient base for exploring the rich Roman and prehistoric rock art sites in the wider valley.Families will also find the village centre suitable. Its pedestrian-friendly layout means children can move about more freely, and there are small parks and open spaces for them to enjoy.
When is the best time to go to Malegno?
The best time to visit Malegno is during late spring, from May to June, or early autumn, from September to October, for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.During these shoulder seasons, the weather is comfortably warm, ideal for exploring the surrounding natural beauty and engaging in outdoor activities like hiking and cycling. You'll find the local trails in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park and around Lake Iseo particularly inviting without the intense heat of mid-summer.For those interested in cultural events and a livelier atmosphere, July and August offer a range of local festivals and events. However, this is also peak tourist season, meaning more visitors and potentially higher prices for accommodation. If you're planning a summer visit, booking well in advance is advisable.
