"AVOID. Difficult to know where to start. This apartment was mis-sold, as it is student accommodation (10 bedrooms per flat). Each guest has shared access to the common room, housing the kitchen and sofa. "A fabulous spot for exploring the South Hams, Torbay area. Very well appointed and spotlessly clean.Be prepared for the short but quite steep climb up the steps from the road, once up there the view is spectacular and it did get easier as the week progressed.Top tip - if you plan to make repeated use of the ferry, we like the lower ferry, consider buying a multi-trip card which may be purchased on board"

"Stunning country castle style hotel. Rooms finished to a very high standard. Staff were wonderfully attentive, seemed genuinely pleased to help and proud of their establishment. Packed with history and a real oasis of peace and comfort. Afternoon tea and breakfast were delicious with a wide choice of options. I felt that the dinner option I had was a bit “nouveau cuisine”, lots on the plate but not much there. But what was there was very well prepared. Spa was very pleasant, although a bit of a shame that the steam room was out of order, as well as the lift to the spa. Will be staying again, it’s not cheap, but you pay for what you get. "

"A glorious stay in room 412 which for us (couple and 4y/o on a sofa bed) was absolutely perfect. Double balcony with the most wonderful views, well proportioned room with everything we could need and a very nice touch of a complimentary welcome Salcombe Gin & Tonic in our room! Parking was convenient with the porter parking for us and was handled quickly and efficiently. The pool facilities were beautifully clean and tranquil and enjoyed especially by our daughter on the child permitted hours. Food and drink great too and friendly restaurant staff - would highly reccomend this hotel. "

"Good hotel whose dated appearance masks the facilities and staff helpfulness. Our room (18) was spacious and well equipped. My only complaint was no table at "my" side of the bed yet had the single and double been moved to the left one could have fitted.
