My first impressions were very positive as the hotel is in a great location in Maidenhead and only a short walk to a variety of restaurants and eateries both chain and independent. The parking area is quite extensive allowing more than enough room for hotel and restaurant guests. There is a stylish reception area with friendly staff who checked me in early after confirming my room was ready. The room was artisticly decorated especially with the bathroom area. There is a well functioning air con unit as well as a nice fan. My main disappointment was that one of my main reasons in booking my accommodation was to use gym facilities. In enquiring about this, I was informed that the spa area was being renovated and not able to be used by guests until April. The lady on reception said that I should have been informed but the only message I received from the hotel did not allude to this. This was the only let down on a stay which would have been give 5 stars otherwise. My 3 main scoring criteria for an overnight stay is the shower, the sleep and the next morning's breakfast. All 3 were very good and combined for a stay at a place I would love to stay at again given the chance.

Staff are very friendly, allowed us to check in early which was really helpful. Room was a good size and bed was comfy. The reason for the 4 stars is the place is definitely in need of a little renovation. The spa facilities are tired and in need of repair. Overall a pleasant stay and good value.

The hotel is lovely, but unfortunately We received a message saying the Spa & pool were closed for maintenance reasons after we had booked. (Non refundable) Found reception staff very pleasant to deal with but also very impersonal. And very scarce! Nobody to be found anywhere at anytime! Nobody offered an apology or even an acknowledgement even though we had booked our stay purely based on the spa facilities. It would have been a nice gesture if they had offered to compensate- even a very small gesture would have been appreciated. There is a pod coffee machine in the room with instructions but no coffee pods :) We were given 2 rolls of toilet paper and they weren't replaced at all during our stay so pack your Kleenex! We weren't given clean water glasses either- room was cleaned but there was no extra effort put in. Fredricks has always been lovely but it is looking dated and could do with some upgrades. Overall a good stay but I couldn't give 5 stars unfortunately

The room was boiling and the heater was stuck on 26 degrees so we had to switch it off. I cut myself on a spring on one of the chairs. The lady on reception was very apologetic but no offer of any recompense. The hotel is dated but our room was spacious with plenty of storage space had we been staying for a longer period of time. Bathroom was very clean and again large. Beds weren’t super comfy but for one night they were sufficient.

A real Gem

There is something very special about Fredricks, at the edges it may to some appear a little frayed, and the décor a little dated, but to me this is charming, like a good pair of shoes, its comfortable, fits well and familiar. The rooms are lovely, the beds very comfortable, the customer service excellent and the food, well the food was absolutely amazing. There is something special about this place, relaxing and comfortable. I would 100% recomend
