This was a disappointing one-week stay.
My primary complaint is against VRBO, which provided consistently poor customer service: not returning calls or emails, not calling back to resolve a complaint as promised and refusing all responsibility.
The initial problem was that the apartment I had rented was not as described. The photos on the website were very attractive, but two VRBO representatives agreed that there had been misrepresentatioin when I was able to get through to them with photos of the actual apartment.
To be fair, the host moved me swiftly. The new apartment was very pleasant but remote: a 40 minute walk to my workplace rather than 7 minutes.
However, the hot water system did not function. I made many requests to address this by phone and Whatsapp. The host said that he was too busy to fix it and did nothing about the problem for my entire stay, not returning messages in the later part of my stay.
