Our 4 night stay was exceptional. We will be back again when we are in the area. So much better than a hotel. The breakfast we received was first rate.
Stayed 3 nights while visiting relatives. Shirley met us with our key, showed us around, made us a great breakfast each day, and was very friendly through our visit. Ruby Lodge is located on a nice estate with a lake and all kinds of wildlife. Sure beat staying at a chain motel on the highway at a similar cost.
My mom and I stayed a night at the hammack-Moore house for an interview I had in madisonville. It was clean, the managers were available and helpful, and we had everything we needed there. The only reason I didn't give a perfect rating was because there was no food onsite- but I didn't expect there to be. We did have coffee made for us by the staff at 6 am, which was so thoughtful!! There was plenty of dining within 5 minutes from the b&b- we had a great dinner at local restaurant. I would highly recommend this b&b!!! Thanks for a great experience!!

Great owner! I felt at home quickly and was very comfortable there. The breakfasts were outstanding and the atmosphere was just what I was looking for in a place to relax after a long meeting. It's a hidden treasure of Madisonville.
Glorious Setting; Outstanding Breakfasts; Fine Value
We came to the area for the total eclipse. Most innkeepers had raised their rates, but Shirley did not. She only required a reasonable minimum stay. The inn is set on 20 wooded acres in the middle of town. No one would know it was there. Our room looked out on a lake, and we were visited by a pair of tiny deer. Totally serene. Shirley makes a wonderful breakfast. Highly recommend.
The problem with this process is that Hotels.com is asking me to review Ruby Lodge when I in fact stayed at Hammack-Moore House, a sister property. The Hotels.com listing was not clear that there are two properties. I figured it out, with help from reviewers, and wasn't unhappy with the venue change. But they are two very different locations and properties. Hammack-Moore house in on Main Street just a few blocks from the city hall, and it's a classic Victorian home with beautiful stained glass windows and woodwork. The hosts do not live on the property and it seems to be a little of a "step-sister" property; i.e., while you have the run of the home, there isn't a running coffee/tea station and no breakfast in the home (you go to a nearby local coffee shop). Some simple amenities such as a tissue box and, in our case, easily accessible towels, were missing. (We found some in a hallway cabinet.) That said, it also was Solar Eclipse weekend, and we checked in the night of the eclipse, so we were thankful to have even landed a room so close to the Totality capital. Hotels.com really needs to update the listing to make it more clear about the two properties. Even my confirmation still said Ruby Ridge and listed that address. If I wasn't paying attention, I would have gone to the wrong property. The B&B's own website makes the distinction very clear.
First night of our honeymoon enroute to our destination. Great rooms and outstanding service. Did not get up for breakfast but staff provided a wonderful fresh fruit and muffin basket and juices.
Beautiful old home (Hammack-house). Furnished throughout with antiquities. Would like to spend more time there, unfortunately we were passing through so arrived late and left early the next morning. Charming location on old downtown Main st.

Country charming
We arrived early and was able to check in after a few phone calls. The home was so charming and the pool was just right after riding a motorcycle all day. We saw deer and lots of birds. Breakfast was delicious, we would definately go back
I gave this a high rating because of the atmosphere. Absolutely gorgeous house with antique decor. Friendly owner. A couple of important things to note. The breakfast is off site and if you rent the room with the 4 poster bed, the bathroom is down the hall. It is also in the middle of town, so you can hear the traffic at night. I turned on Pandora so it didn't bother me much. Love the decor!
I stayed there twice, one year apart, for 3 nights and it was great. If you like a place to relax in a house by a lake, that may be for you. The hosts are very nice and the breakfast is simple and delicious.

Had high hopes that were dashed :-/
We booked a room at what was represented on the website as a secluded B&B with a pool. What we got was a room in albeit a very nice old home but it was on main street with the railroad tracks less than a block away. The train came through hourly and blasted it's horn as it went by (it was loud enough to wake the dead!) Needless to say if you like being deceived and not sleeping......this is the place for you!
I stayed here a week for a work trip and it was a respite to come to Shirley's lovely home. They have a beautiful view of the lake from their living room where you can breathe a sigh of relief. The homeowners are very nice and accommodating. Shirley is a wonderful host who wants to make sure that you are comfortable by all means and who can cook up a mean breakfast! Every breakfast was something different, delicious and beautifully plated. Superb!

Nice!
We had a great time while staying at Ruby Lodge. It was decorated beautifully, and the service was appreciated. I would recommend others give it a try!
Our time at Ruby Lodge was wonderful, truly peaceful. The location is superb and the owners are extremely welcoming. Certainly the best place to stay in the Madisonville area.
It was a beautiful, quiet room. I had not expected the spiral staircase as I had recently had hip replacement, but I made it. Breakfast.was a block away although the coffee house was nice and the food great. They were not open on Sunday.
