This hotel is very far from Punchal airport, but it was listed on Expedia as a choice foyer for Funchal. The roads to get there are very dangerous, especially at night. Don’t book this hotel if you are landing at Funchal ($80 euro cab ride). It is a very isolated town, far from the main attraction areas.

Enjoyable stay. Free access to the natural public rock pools. The hotel spa is very small but nice to have this facility anyway and the outdoor lounge terrace overlooking the ocean (smail as well) makes for a relaxing experience.

The hotel is beautifully situated directly on the ocean and features decks which allow you to sit, listen to the surf, have a drink, etc. Rooms and beds are large. The breakfasts are excellent and the servers are awesome. We only ate one meal at the hotel on the roof, and it was excellent and reasonably priced. Just all around excellent place to stay.

The pools were so cool. There were fish swimming in them and it was fun to watch the waves crashing into them at high tide. We had a balcony directly over the sea looking out to the cliffs over the ocean. It was so serene to be able to just sit and listen to the waves. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Really splendid staff who did everything to make our stay pleasant. Room was unusually clean and well decorated but not large. Watching the waves break from our balcony was amazing. We had half board, breakfast was excellent and dinner from the half board menu was pretty ok. The food was very nicely cooked and presented for me they could do with keeping it simpler with less decoration and fewer flavours on a single plate. Overall our stay was a great experience.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, so much so that we miss them! The breakfasts were wonderful and varied and the meals in the seaview restaurant were top class. The young staff on reception were also very efficient and helpful.

The staff was amazing, and so responsive to any question I had or anything that I needed. I loved the property. It was beautiful with stunning views of the water and the natural pools. Every room is ocean front in the views were amazing my favorite part of the trip was the incredible breakfast Buffet each morning, the amount type and quality of food that was served was unmatched. I just can’t talk about the breakfast enough lol. I also had a spa service which was so relaxing and felt so good and the prices can’t be beat. the food at the hotel in the restaurant was truly incredible. I didn’t feel that I was missing out on anything by not staying in the city and visiting other restaurants and tourist spots, it was such a relaxing solo trip and I felt completely safe at all times I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again

The hotel was wonderful. Great staff, beautiful rooms and excellent food. The problem was bookig thru Hotels.com. We were quoted one price but the price went up. When we questioned the price with hotels.com, the response was to blame the hotel. Not true! I will be booking directly with the hotel from now on, or using another website

Incredible views
This hotel is lovely, the views from the rooms are stunning. The staff are very pleasant, breakfast was superb, we even got a thank you gift of a pot of marmalade when we checked out. The room was large and comfortable. Listening to the waves crashing onto the rocks over night was very soothing, if I am even in Porto Moniz again I will definitely stay here,

I highly recommend this hotel, it really exceeded my expectations. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. The views from the room are amazing. Really clean and beautiful hotel. The hotel provides you with free passes to the natural pools and does have a bus stop right outside too meaning you can go all the way to Funchal for just €6. Would love to stay again.

Amazing hotel from the check in to check out. Super friendly front staff. Because of my Hotel.com rewards I was upgraded to a very nice room with ocean view. Room was clean, comfortable bed and pillows. Nice Nespresso machine in the room. The breakfast was great, fresh orange juice, fresh fruits, coffee and breads. Location is incredible, in front of the natural pool. I would recommend and stay here again.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were gracious and welcoming. Check-in was seamless. The room was clean, spacious and the view was just amazing. Both of the on-site restaurants were top notch with excellent food, beautiful presentation and friendly service. The breakfast buffet was fresh, varied and delicious. The hotel is about an hour from Funchal and public transportation is limited so you will need a car. But well worth it!

I was looking.for a relaxing break with a seaview. At this hotel I couldn't of been closer to the sea without getting wet! Seaview was incredible and the sea was fascinating and dramatic to watch. The hotel itself was lovely, delicious breakfast, comfortable bed and friendly, helpful staff.

Stayed here for 3 nights with 2 teenage daughters. We had a great time. Views from our room overlooking the natural baths was amazing. Very peaceful listenimg to the waves. All staff were so friendly, polite and helpful. Hotel spotless clean. Would highly recommend a stay in Porto Moniz

Excellent hotel
The staff were friendly and it is clearly eco conscious. The room was comfortable and cleaned daily. The breakfasts were superb. We gave notice of gluten intolerance prior to arriving and we were pleased to find that they prepared bread etc to accommodate.
