Ramada by Wyndham Strasburg/Shenandoah Valley
10/10 Excellent
"This hotel was perfect during my 2-night stay. Everything was clean in both the room and common areas and the free hot breakfast was great. Overall everything seemed properly attended to and well-managed by the staff. The attached Mexican restaurant was also fantastic, providing a super convenient spot on property to have dinner. This Ramada is an example of how a hotel should be run. "
"Hampton Inn Woodstock, VA – Pros and Cons
PROS:
- Great location, near several restaurants, gas stations, highways and recreation.
- Beautiful scenery - the mountain views in this area are gorgeous!!
- The indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub were both the perfect temperature, clean, large, and relaxing.
- The free continental breakfast included hot waffles (regular and blueberry flavors), scrambled eggs, and sausage as well as cold options such as cereal, juices, yogurts, and muffins.
- Large lobby and breakfast area.
- End of street, quiet location
- In-room fridge
- Clean – the room furnishings, floors, bathroom and bedding were clean.
CONS:
- They are under “renovation” and the construction workers / equipment takes up several parking spaces that would have otherwise been available.
- The “finished” construction work in the rooms is not really finished. The carpet, tile, shower and vanity were new (and look nice), but several wall and floor trim and edging were missing, showing bare drywall and other noticeable unfinished construction. The wallpaper was still the “old” wallpaper and was peeling off the walls. I’m not sure why they didn’t complete an entire room before moving on to the next.
- The lobby, breakfast area, pool and hot tub all seem to be finished.
We would stay at this hotel again for the indoor hot tub, pool, free continental breakfast, and location.

Holiday Inn Express Woodstock-Shenandoah Valley by IHG
4/10 Poor
"Pro: check in was super easy the lady at the desk was so kind so late at night. The breakfast was great, so many options and everything we had was fresh. We were exhausted and our children beyond past bedtime.
Cons: our room smelled like the toilet had backed up if you get what I’m saying 💩 , the kids had already passed out on the bed before I came back from getting our suitcases. I took another trip out and got the body spray to help mask the smell until I also passed out. We could have complained but with only a few hours and limited rooms we decided to turn in. The sink in the bathroom also did not drain properly, not a huge issue but it filled up very fast and took a very long time to drain. "
"The house was clean and well stocked. The yard and view were incredible. Our kids loved swinging, playing in the river, and playing in the game shack. Would definitely rent again!"
