"Firstly, I rarely review any business good or bad, but Hotel Palmas de Cortez was simply appalling. When checking in, the woman at the front desk would only cut us one key card for the room for 3 people. She said come back tomorrow if you want more. She was incredibly rude. When we got to the room, it was a dump. We had a Presidential suite and it was anything but! It was so run down and disgusting we went back to the front desk and asked for another room. We were subsequently shown room that was covered in more dust, had dead insects on the window sills, stunk of mold and didn't look as if it had been cleaned in months! We eventually stayed in the original room as we had no choice. We went out and bought cleaning products from the local supermarket and cleaned the room ourselves to where it was livable. Housekeeping only made the bed and folded the used towels. I deliberately left dust on one of the sofa arms to see if housekeeping would wipe it off during the 6 nights we were there - it was not! The overall hotel is tired and desperately in need of a facelift and someone who cares about the property. The restaurants on site were terrible however the staff at least were pleasant and helpful. The pool bar doesn't serve food - you have to get takeout! The gym was disgracefully filthy - couldn't use it! We've stayed at many properties in Mexico, some good, some bad, but nothing like this! The website portrays the hotel as something entirely different to reality. Stay away!"

"We had an amazing stay at Casa Alvarado. It is a beautiful property on a gorgeous beach. You can snorkel right off the beach and see lots of cool fish. It was great to have kayaks and SUPs to use too. And what we didn’t expect is that you can see whales right from the property multiple times a day!Heidi was very communicative and provided us with plenty of useful information ahead of our stay. She helped with providing contact information for many local businesses like transport, ATV rentals, fishing and catering.Note that the property is quite remote and renting ATVs/side-by-sides is the best way to get around. Rentals are brought right to the property which was very convenient.We got catering from Martha for most of the dinners and some breakfasts during our stay. All the food was delicious and we highly recommend it. Martha even cooked the fish that our guys caught on their fishing adventure.The only hiccup during our stay was that the water tank ran out on our last day, which made for an awkward departure for us with not having running water.Overall, we loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a private beach getaway."

"beautiful property. Restaurant/bar service was kind but not competent. Dinner took 55 minutes to arrive (from when we sat down), and we had to go request menus ourselves, two different people took our (same) order. At breakfast, three different people took our order, and it still took me four requests to get water. My husband's coffee came after only the second time he ordered it. Everyone was very nice, but we cannot recommend eating here."

"We just recently spent a week at this lovely casita. Waking up to the sun rising over the Sea of Cortez was awe inspiring. This is one of the few places we've rented where the pictures do not do this home justice. This is the perfect rental for a couple that prizes privacy. We will for sure be back...a perfect vacation! Lucy and Brian were wonderful hosts as well."

"Enjoyed the house. Nicely furnished…lots of plates, cups, pans,etc. Pool very nice. Not heated. Beach was very rocky…so couldn’t really swim there. Lots of construction nearby made it quite noisy."
