Pousada de Viseu

Pousada de Viseu

10/10 Excellent
"All round excellence. Perfectly placed to explore the region. Superb hotel. The architecture of the place (and the scale) just blew us away. Trip type - Holiday Travel group - Couple Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Nearby activities: Plenty to see & do in town, and the hotel is centrally placed for drives in the beautiful coutryside (although Viseu's string of roundabouts to get to the main IC can get a bit tiresome) Safety: Our experience of everyone we have met has been great. In general, people are very kind & friendly, welcoming to strangers, with very helpful gestures - smiles and great consideration for us & our poor Portugese language skills! Walkability: Uneven cobbled pavements need more care. All we wanted to do was nearby however, and the weather [October] was absolutely perfect - slippy cobbles could be another story. Food and drinks: Fantastic local traditional food, pastries, coffee & fine wines from the region - we have enjoyed exploring regional cuisine very much. Noteworthy details The lovely lady on night reception was an absolute font of knowledge of things to do in and around Viseu - really made our visit magical. Obrigado! The parking at the hotel was reasonable and secure. Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Quiet, Great value"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lordosa?
The best area to stay in Lordosa is the central village area, particularly around the Largo do Adro.

This area is the heart of Lordosa and offers the most convenient access to local amenities and the village's traditional character. You'll find the main church, local shops, and a few small eateries within easy walking distance. The streets here are generally narrow and winding, reflecting the village's historic layout, and many properties offer views of the surrounding countryside.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat, staying within the village centre is ideal. It provides a genuine experience of Portuguese village life, with opportunities for quiet strolls and enjoying local hospitality. You're well-placed to explore the nearby hiking trails and natural beauty of the Viseu district from here.

Families looking for a relaxing base will also find the central village appealing. The slower pace of life and the ability to walk to local spots makes it convenient.
When is the best time to go to Lordosa?
The best time to visit Lordosa is generally during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is pleasant for exploring.

During spring, the countryside around Lordosa comes alive with blooming flowers and lush greenery. Temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 15Ā°C to 25Ā°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking or simply enjoying the scenic landscapes. This period is particularly lovely for couples seeking a tranquil escape amidst nature.

Autumn also offers wonderful conditions, with comfortable temperatures between 18Ā°C and 28Ā°C and the added beauty of changing leaf colours across the vineyards and hills. This is an excellent time for those interested in local wine culture, as it often coincides with the grape harvest in the wider Viseu District. Families might enjoy this period for exploring the region's traditions and enjoying outdoor excursions without the intense heat of summer.

While summer (July and August) is warm, with temperatures often exceeding 30Ā°C, it can be quite hot for extensive sightseeing. Winter (November to March) is cooler and wetter, with temperatures between 5Ā°C and 15Ā°C, which can limit outdoor activities.
