Very private cabin with beautiful views. Enjoyed the private beach and had a lovely bonfire one evening. Created fun memories with the easy to access kayaks. Location was off the beaten path which was just what we wanted - yet so close Lopez city with good eats and activities. Great stay if you are looking for something quiet, remote, and comfortable with a great host.
Located on nice estate. Steps away from a nice beach area. Quiet area to walk or bike around. The little house is nearly new and the heated floor makes it comfortable in any weather. Wall of windows facing the water provides great views.
This property is serene, beautiful, family friendly and a great place for a much needed retreat. Beautiful memories were built as our family had time to enjoy the amazing views, cooler weather and sounds of the sea. We spent most of the two full days packed with fun on the property alone (but go to the farmer's market on Saturday during the summer to buy Diane's fabulous clam chowder & Mike's amazing wooden figures).
Thanks to Diane for sharing her wonderful family get away. What a beautiful spot, in a lovely location. The cabin had everything you'd need and the hospitality was so appreciated. We had a lovely time!
This little cabin is cozy and clean. We found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The owners are exceptionally friendly. The view and the wildlife were amazing.
Very nice cabin, well set up, everything we needed, the view out the front window and from the lawn is worth the price. It is a little slice of heaven.
Diane and Mike are the best hosts! The house is very quiet with quick beach access. The house comes with everything you need for a quiet island retreat!
This was an amazing vacation spot! The house was spotless, tastefully decorated, comfortable, and had a spectacular view of the water and surrounding islands. Saw lots of wildlife every day including eagles, seals, and herons. Our host Diane was very friendly and responsive. We would love to come back some day!
Super cute cottage with an incredible view! Very clean and well stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Wildlife on your doorstep from otters to seals to birds. Very relaxing.
Never have stayed in the San Juan Islands before, we chose this cabin on Lopez Island. What a find. What a gem! The cabin was beautiful as was the view. The Host, Diane and her husband were great. Already looking to return.
I cannot express enough the kindness and generosity that we were met with by Diane and Mike- they are absolutely outstanding hosts! The cabin was incredible as well! It offered a super cozy get away with breath taking views of the San Juan’s and wild life. The property also offers tons of activities (boating, kayaking, swimming, campfire, etc.), as well as a great location to take off from to enjoy local hikes. My husband and friends already cannot wait to have the opportunity to return! A huge thank you to Diane and Mike for sharing their property with us!!
Incredible stay at Lopez Island. The cabin and property were amazing. It’s better than the pictures and the house is right on the water overlooking the beach. Diane was a gracious host and made sure to check in to see if we needed anything. We had a great time exploring the beach and surrounding areas. The views are amazing and much of our time was spent simply enjoying looking out into the sound. There is wildlife everywhere. Small Island sits just off the shore and is frequented by a large number of seals and birds which we had a great time spotting. The location is great and you are about 5 minutes from the village if you need to grab a meal, stop at the market or visit some shops. Some of the better food we had was at the Vortex Cafe and Ursa Minor. Other than that we spent our time around the property taking walks and utilizing the grill to cook meals. The house had everything we needed to prepare some great meals. I would recommend a stay at Diane’s cabin if you are looking to for a relaxing weekend and wanting to spend some time in nature. We will surely be back as we loved our time on Lopez Island at Diane’s beautiful property.
Pros- beautiful ocean view and clean.
Cons- smaller than advertised. Listed as 900ft2. Living space closer to 700ft2, footprint of house closer to 800ft2.
The bedrooms are tiny, the bathroom closet sized. The laundry facilities are actually in the campground across the property, requiring a drive in the car. We are a family of 6 and it was waaay too small.
The cottage is on a large property with multiple rentals and a camp ground. It seems to be a large church camp with rentals when camp is not occurring.
The cottage is situated in the front yard of an enormous house. There are 2 outdoor bathrooms located steps from the back door. Each day, campers rode bikes to our front yard and passed the house just outside the windows. It did not feel private.
Also- my parents had rented another small house on the property which was nearly twice as big, had laundry on site, yet cost the same amount as ours.
Overall, beautiful location. But for the price, and with the misrepresented size and lack of privacy, we wouldn’t return.
