For a 4-star hotel, I would say it was very dissatisfactory. The carpets have stains, and the toilet is very old and needs a serious renovation. The shower space was clean but it does not have a shower head (yes I am not joking). There was a broken hand held water spray that leaked water from everywhere. I asked them to fix or replace it and add a showerhead but they told me “it is impossible” (can you believe?). The built in iron was not working properly. However, the breakfast staff are very nice and wonderful. The Comfort Suite room is spacious and the layout is nice.

Beautifully restored historical building within walking distance of many sites and restaurants. Hôtel was very well maintained and staff were fantastic, very friendly, helpful and polite. Would very happily stay there again

The staff were incredibly helpful and made sure all of my needs were taken care of. The food at the hotel was also amazing - I couldn't get enough of the delicious meals they served. I will definitely be returning to this hotel in the future. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Have you ever stayed in a hotel that was BETTER than the photos? Neither had I... until I stayed here. It's stunning inside and out. Large,spacious bedroom with a comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast. Fab area to explore Lille a pied.

Convenient location

Perfectly situated to access dining, retail or outdoor areas. Having seating in the room made it more comfortable to relax between activities. Very spacious room. 1st and 2nd floor carpets and facade looked new and fresh, 3rd floor was dinghy looking with stained carpet and lighting on/off along corridor making it dark.

A neglected two star for the price of four.

The hotel opened 33 years ago and it shows. It’s like time had stopped. Everything is tired and rundown, the floor carpet in the worst condition I have ever seen, the whole architecture concept old fashioned to say the least. All for the price of a four star that the hotel still claims to be. Just avoid it until they renovate it (construction to start next year, they told me). For info: parking overnight costs 21 euros (which we were not properly informed about at arrival).

Terrible time in Lille

Firstly, my room had no air conditioning in August. I asked for a fan and was promised one, but it never arrived. My room was on the ground level facing a parking lot, so I could not leave the window open at night. As a result, my sleep was very limited. Secondly, the desk clerk gave a key to my room to some couple at 11pm one night, so they walked into my room when I wasn't dressed. Finally, the desk clerk promised to compensate me for my terrible experience and I never heard from the hotel.

Very poorly maintained rooms no manage my on site

I cannot understand the positive reviews for this hotel. I paid for an upgraded deluxe room which was around £60 more than rooms in the other 4 star properties in Lille. Sadly despite being moved by a very accommodating-but embarrassed receptionist the rooms were dated, poorly maintained and cleaned - two different beds are in my images. I had no choice due to logistics but to stay. No manager available all weekend. It then took a week to respond to my complaint. Eventually an offer of a refund but a week later Hotels.com have still not had this authorised by the hotel. I now know that the hotel is due a full refurb. It so needs it. The carpets in common areas, like the bedrooms, are all stained. Basic maintenance has not been carried out and to have chairs as battered as they were shows a very badly run hotel. As a business owner I know that some customers use reviews as a weapon which is why I have taken 2 weeks to post this review to see if the management could resolve it speedily. Sadly not! How can a large hotel never have a manager available for Expedia to resolve an issue?

Kind staff doing the best they could under the circumstances. We came for the Braderie de Lille and had no idea our hotel would be hosting events. There was a loud rock band performing outside the hotel every night. We wish we’d been informed of this when booking. Our room also had a leak from the room next door. We discovered after coming back into the room midday. Some of our belongings were wet. We were switched to the only room they had available which was a downgrade. It was older, had little light, and no air conditioning. It also had sloped ceilings and I banged my head on the edge of one of the corners one night. My 6 foot tall husband couldn’t stand upright in the shower.

Great location, and super friendly staffs. But, i would expect free car park for guests. I also beleive rooms need updating, really dated carpet and furnitures. Attention to details is lacking, ie. Windows paintwork is black and flaking... Las5 comment is monday morning laundry collection starting at 6.30am, for ~30mn: very noisy when your room is at the front of the hotel, is there really no where else for this task to be done?? Continental breakfast buffet is good unless you want scramble eggs, they look and taste disgusting!

Beau cadre extérieur, avec un environnement paisible. La salle de restaurant est chaleureuse et offre une belle atmosphère. En revanche, il n’y a pas de climatisation dans les chambres, ce qui peut rendre le séjour inconfortable en été. Les moquettes, anciennes, retiennent la poussière. Une rénovation des chambres serait bienvenue pour être à la hauteur du reste de l’établissement.

Lovely staff and grounds. Shower was the highlight. Came for the air conditioning during the heatwave but the system was not adequate. Fold out couch was incredibly uncomfortable and squeaky, ended up putting the mattress on the floor.

Bar : excellent, Restaurant : très bien, accueil : non existant ! Attendre à l’accueil plusieurs minutes avec 2 personnes l’autre côté de la vitre ne me semble pas la norme. Être obligé des les interpeller pour ne pas entendre une petite excuse mais un « je lisais des mails et je n’ai pas mes yeux fixer sur l’écran ». Je m’en veux de les avoir déranger. Je propose une formation ou de changer de métier. Quelle dommage pour une quatre étoile.

Cet hôtel a été une institution, il est aujourd’hui dépassé. Les chambres sont vieillottes et sans charme, la salle du restaurant sous la verrière pas climatisée donc même à l’heure du pet de jeûner ça commence à chauffer, le personnel du petit déjeuner est nombreux mais inefficace et l’accueil n’est pas des plus chaleureux. Dommage car pour 400€ par nuit on peut s’attendre à une prestation de qualité je crois
