This is a small town with limited accomodations. The hotel was fine, clean but old. 2 queen beds were actually doubles. Restaurant/Bar not open. Very convenient lication and walkable to most everything. Parking is tight if you have a big vehicle.

The property was different and for the price I paid, I would not stay again. The hotel room was clean. The parking was very inconvenient although it was free and these days that's not a common benefit. The elevator was antiquated but carried some charm. The town was a really nice town with all kinds of shops. The hotel dining was limited at best.

This hotel is a GEM! We loved the historic downtown area of Lexington and have been here several times but not stayed downtown. The room was perfect size and the staff was so helpful. The Juniper Lounge has a great full bar and the food is yummy! We will stay here again! Kudos to the owners for taking on the remodel of this beautiful building.

Stayed here many times when our son attended WLU and was nice being back. Staff is lovely- check in was easy and the lovely bartender in the Juniper Lounge made us feel very welcome to be back!

I loved the "old" feel of the hotel. There were features that made the hotel feel like you had stepped back in time (phone booths, wide stair cases, elevator cranks, etc). Even with the nostalgic feel the hotel had upgrades and I loved the bathrooms. I had two queens, and although the room was a little tight, the beds were cozy and we didn't want to leave.

Jan 2024 We recommend the Gin Hotel which is a vintage hotel with modern - style rooms, with an on- site restaurant (Juniper), in a great location on Main Street, in Lexington, VA. It is walking distance to many restaurants, coffee shops, Just Games game shop, outdoor apparel and camping store Walkabout Outfitter, VMI and Washington and Lee colleges, and so much more. The Gin hotel staff Lindsey and Makayla were friendly, helpful, attentive, and competent. The 5th level story, corner- suites of the Gin offer terrific views of the snowy mountains and shops on Main Street. We stayed in a two - queen bed room for our first two nights and then upgraded to the corner 5th level story suite for our last night. The rooms have a light and airy feel to them. The layout of both is unique. The beds were very comfortable, had great pillows and down comforters which conform to your sleeping position. The King suite has a very large jacuzzi in the bathroom, along with a very modern -style shower, which we loved. There was hot water in abundance! The suite also had a table and 2 chairs, as well as a lounger type comfortable chair which I sat in in front of the window and enjoyed the terrific snow - topped mountain view from. The Gin offers complimentary parking directly behind the hotel. A downfall to the Gin is that there are no mini fridges / microwaves, and breakfast is very limited, but that's ok, because Pronto Caffe (coffee pastry shop) is next door.

A great old hotel that has been updated with modern conveniences. The shower is nice. The room layout is kind of strange, and I'm assuming that's because the hotel was old and refurbished. It was comfortable. They were doing construction on the second floor so I had to give it a small ding for that but otherwise, a good place for the money with plenty of food options within a short walking distance.

Well located and clean but needs some updates.
We stayed at the Gin for a weekend getaway to Lexington, VA. It was hard to identify the hotel because there is no signage outside that you can see from a car that says "Gin Hotel". We figured it out and found the back entrance where there was plenty of parking. The hotel is centrally located in downtown which made walking around very easy. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean, but dated. It was noisy at times and we were woken up on Saturday morning around 5am with the garbage pick-up of the hotel dumpster. The hotel is undergoing renovations, so the decor may be updated soon, but there was no where to hang our towels in the bathroom, so hopefully they can fix that. Also, the breakfast wasn't much, so we ate breakfast out both days. The bar/restaurant looked nice, but we didn't try it.

Convenient location downtown. Free parking. HVAC controls didn't work. Cold breakfast- very limited options, cold coffee, cloudy water, no lighting controls. Tiny TV un-watchable from almost anywhere in the room. Shower design doesn't contain water in the shower basin. These are mostly design and configuration defects not easily corrected.

The rooms do not have independent temperature controls. We were told to open a window if we were hot. But they did bring up a fan. The carpet needs changing, the safe didn't work, and it is missing some amenities that people have come to expect in mid-range hotels (i.e. no mini fridge or microwave). But it is a charming old building, great location. The staff was polite, the parking good, and the location central to everything in the downtown Lexington, Va area.

The room was very basic and looked quite old. The decorating was bare minimum. It was really cold in the room and the sound proofing was not good. We were woken up at 11, 1 and 3 am by people running in the halls and laughing.

Upon checking in the lobby smelled like perfume that got into my nose/throat, yuk. There was a Thursday night football game while there and when I went down to the restaurant/bar at 8:45 to get a beverage for the game it was closed (posted hours on door were till 9pm) The door was locked and even though they were inside they wouldn't open the door. The bedsheet had a hole in it. So, nothing big, just really inconvenient, enough that I may not chose to stay there again.

Lesson learned ..Read reviews prior to staying
While we were initially excited about this hotel, I wish I would have read all the reviews prior to choosing a hotel. I probably would not have chosen to stay here. The positives: location, extra free cold water (just ask), windows open, sheets and towels clean and smelled good, parking The opportunities for change: ac/heater did not work, pillows were like bricks, shower needed bleach, the water pressure was terrible..it was like a drizzle and the lack of pressure made getting soap off your body and out of your hair next to impossible, no bathroom fan, all lights on one switch..all on or all off, limited outlets, could not charge my phone except across the room, toilet seat did not fit the toilet and would move when sitting down, the carpet needed a deep cleaning, curtains did not close all the way to keep out light in the morning.

We think you did a nice job upgrading that property. Keep up the good work by maintaining it, keeping it clean, safe and accessible in price to guests. A suggestion would be to add expresso coffee (quality coffee). This would be a nice touch. And something warm in the breakfast options. Thank You.

Very nice hotel right in old town Lexington. Well maintained and comfortable. Quiet. Parking lot is very small and the breakfast was pretty basic. Didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant.
