Welcome to Michie Shire, your charming retreat nestled on 17 rolling acres in beautiful Lexington, Virginia. Just a short 3-mile drive from the vibrant heart of town and the historic campuses of VMI and W&L University, this privately owned haven offers the perfect blend of tranquility and convenience.

Step into our lovingly restored 1930s farmhouse, boasting 1800 square feet of comfortable living space, plus a versatile semi-finished basement. Imagine mornings sipping coffee on the expansive wraparound porch, soaking in the breathtaking, unobstructed views of both the majestic Allegheny and Blue Ridge mountains.

Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape or an adventure-filled getaway, Michie Shire is your ideal base. If your beloved canine companions are joining you, please let us know. We happily welcome up to two small to medium-sized dogs, with a nominal cleaning fee to ensure everyone's comfort.

Lovely retreat

The house was perfect for a long weekend visiting our son at VMI. Lots of space, very comfortable, and well-stocked. We particularly loved watching the sunsets from the porch.

Great Country Cottage

We loved our stay here! The house itself is charming and clean. And we loved the porch with the rocking chairs and the view. My daughter loved the goats, chickens and swim. We all enjoyed the hammock and fire pit. It was a fantastic stay and we hope to come back again.

Amazing place

We had an amazing stay with two families. The animals on the farm are amazing and the proximity of Lexington gives plenty of opportunities Toft dining. Great brewery with fresh pizzas at 9 min drive. Just perfect.

Beautiful property a short drive from downtown. Very well equipped (so much coffee!), spacious, and comfortable. Lots of space indoors and out. Host was very responsive and helpful. Had a great time!

Very quiet, comfprtable farm house located in the beautiful area of Lexington, VA. We loved the fact that we could watch the sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains and gaze at the stars at night. We all enjoyed our stay!

Amazing weekend away

We had a fabulous stay - loved the views from the porch with our morning coffee and an evening glass of wine. The fire table was also a big hit - we spent most of our time hanging out around it. The kitchen had everything we needed. The entire house was super comfortable. We didn’t want to leave!

Family Reunion House

Our sons and granddaughters had a wonderful time at this attractive and well-furnished and equipped country cottage. The occasion was their dad's/ granddad's 90th birthday parties in Lexington. They reported lots of goodies in the fridge, plenty of bedding, great to have washer& dryer. The youngest granddaughter loved seeing the farm critters. The grandparents found the place a little confusing to reach, but the kids did not..

Fun on the Farm

Our entire family (ages 15-82) had a wonderful time together at Michie Shire with day trips to Staunton & Natural Bridge...we were very comfortable on the property and liked that we were in the country but still close to the interstate
