Beautiful location, clean rooms and lovely breakfast. I would highly recommend it.
We had a lovely stay at Winstanley House, the staff and food at breakfast and in Black Iron were great! We asked for a quiet room as we are light sleepers and were given one which made us feel welcome as did our check in.
Our room was very clean but there were a few marks on the wall and carpet including an iron mark, and the window frames had a few black marks from condensation which could have been wiped off. The mattress also had a dip in the middle and could do with replacing as we rolled into the middle several times!
Overall a great stay; the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable and the food, particularly at breakfast, was of high quality.
Booked a junior suite for my son and his girlfriend as a treat on Christmas Day as they were visiting from another city. They loved the room and the breakfast too! They sent me videos of both, and the room looked clean and fresh and the breakfast was Full English and eggs Benedict with cups of tea in cute teacups. You drive through a park to get to this hotel. If you are driving at night or low visibility, beware of the speed humps! The markings have worn away and they are brutal! Drive extra slowly.
The parkland area around the hotel was a nice walk along with the walled garden. The staff was friendly and answered questions patiently. The breakfast and dinner at the restaurant was lovely.
What a lovely place to stay, old country house with plenty of garden / woodland walks immediately outside. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Great value for money.
Had an amazing stay here. It is the second time we have stayed here and it is just amazing. We had a stunning room and we ate at the restaurant again the food is incredible.
Lovely hotel in an unusual location, if uiu stay make sure you eat in the black iron, ⚫️ amazing steaks at a reasonable price, rooms were comfy, staff were very helpful, had a coupe of cocktails are dinner made by Ella, thanks for being a perfect host 😁
There is beautiful parkland around the property and friendly and helpful staff. I was a little disappointed with the lack of menu options available in the afternoon. The bedrooms and hotel are fabulous and very comfortable. I would absolutely stay there again.

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
We stayed there for a wedding that took place at their venue, the room although “deluxe” felt more like a standard room. The sheets looked worn out and the shower room floor could be cleaner like the rest of it was.
It was good to have a coffee machine and tea supplies in the room.
I love this hotel! I regularly stay in Leicester for work and this has become my hotel of choice! The hotel is lovely and the rooms are comfortable. The team are friendly and helpful, and Nabeela is an asset to your team!
Great service I was there for 2 weeks overall. Gorgeous room and Nabila and Nico were just incredible. Nabila was so kind and helpful. Nothing was any trouble.
Very warm welcome by Niko, nice to be in such a nice surrounding. Bar was well equipped, bed was very comfortable and the eggs florentine were delicious!
I really loved the hotel and my room, however the bed was really uncomfortable. The mattress was really lumpy and sank in on both sides so I didn't have a great nights sleep, hence for the low score. On-site parking was also great and was one of the reasons I picked the hotel.
We stay on our way to Peak District and choose to do a park run in the morning. The park run is in the same park which is 1 minute outside which is amazing. The front desk staff is excellent, when we check the time of breakfast, they told the kitchen to make sure wait us to get our breakfast- in the end we back on time but still very caring service.
the room was ok but at 6am you can hear every word of the staff starting work so not great.
restaurant is clearly understaffed but the two staff were great. food was not hot and steak very tough. breakfast fantastic. told I would receive receipt by email for meal, still not arrived.
One night stay, nice warm room on arrival. Facilities adequate for our stay, good coffee machine, plenty of towels, bed comfortable, pillows a little hard for our liking. Didn’t seem to be a safe in the room. Reasonably quiet but could hear someone using the toilet in the room above!
Thought breakfast choice limited - continental poor selection, cooked full English very good, but prefer toast severed separately and not buttered.
Coffee at breakfast - awful! Need to invest in a coffee machine.
The Asian lady from London on reception (sorry didn’t get her name) very friendly and helpful. Had a nice chat with her on our return later in the evening.
Would stay again if in the area.
