Frio river trip
Got to spend the perfect get-away weekend with my family of 5 and our dog. Got to enjoy the water during the day and made smores at night followed by a family movie. Great spot!!! Lots of exploring to do.

Spring Break 2024 with the Family
Our Family had a fantastic time at the cabin and were thrilled with all the wonderful amenities. Our host John personally called the week before our visit to make sure we had our codes for the house as well as to answer any questions we might've had, that personal touch was only the beginning. The cabin was fully equipped with everything from pots, pans to coffee & soap bar in the shower! As an added touch a bottle of wine, a gift to us from the Moores, was such a special touch that my husband and I appreciated while our kids played a game of Texasopoly. Thank you again for your Frio river hospitality!!

Remote and raw! But also really civilized.
I stayed for two nights with my teenagers and three of their teenage friends. This place is great because it's very remote, quiet, right on the river, and it has all the amenities. We drove out there in two EVs and plugged into an outside 120V outlet right after we arrived. By the time we had to leave, the cars were charged. There is an electric dryer with a three-pronged plug. You could use that to charge your EV in much less time (3h versus 30h) but you'd need an adapter for a four-pronged plug. I really enjoyed sleeping with the blinds open and waking with the sunrise. Then going to the full kitchen, making a pot of coffee, and making pancakes for all the kids. Cell phones do not work out there (there is a landline), but the wireless in the cabin is excellent. The local town in Leakey has a nice grocery store, and some good restaurants. This was a great trip. My kids and their friends had a blast!

A wonderful visit!
My family needed a little time together to have fun and found this to be the perfect place! The home was as described and the photos were accurate. Everything was super clean and complete with a bottle of wine. The river was very low for our visit but John called and gave me ideas of other places we could go. He is so responsive! One of my favorite things about our stay was the incredible sky of stars after s’mores. So gorgeous and quiet!

Great Weekend Getaway!

Great place to stay!
Enjoyed the privacy on the river and at the cabin, but close enough to Garner SP to enjoy a day there as well. Very clean and well maintained. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

Great location, quiet and peaceful,private, and fully furnished home with attention to details. The cabin is clean, kitchen is well appropriated with anything you need, and washer and dryer is a great bonus! This is our favorite place to stay when we come to the river, year after year.

Great spot!
Beautiful, peaceful location. We rented both Double dog cabins with another family, it was great! We have zero complaints except it was hard to get down to the River. Nevertheless, it did not deter us, and we would stay here again!!

The most wonderful place!
We had the best stay at Double Dog Cabins over Memorial Day Weekend 2023. Our family of 4 (mom, dad, 2 kiddos) and our dog stayed for 3 nights, and our best family friends stayed at the cabin next door. We had a weekend full of amazing river time and relaxing on the porch with beautiful Texas views. The cabins are perfectly outfitted with everything you need, and we can't wait to return!

We had a wonderful stay! So peaceful and quiet! I didn't think there would be so much traffic on the road in front of the property. The cabin was a nice size and very accommodating, however, since it was also a dog friendly place there was dog hair on the bathroom carpets and the sheets. Overall, it was a fantastic stay!

Slice of Heaven
I brought my family and our dog here over the Easter weekend and we had the most amazing time. The river is a short walk down the driveway from the front door. We spent all of our time outside. The front porch was perfect for quiet time, dinner and just enjoying the fresh air. The river was great and my boys had a great time catching minnows and crawfish. We explored the areas around - spent one morning at Garner State Park - absolutely beautiful. The other morning we spent at Lost Maples - for those with a queasy tummy - the drive is not for you - lots of twists and turns, but so pretty. We enjoyed the Leakey Mercantile, Gypsy Sally’s and Leakey Drug (the most delicious cinnamon roll!) This is such a beautiful part of the hill country and was a perfect long weekend trip for 2 young boys and a dog who love to be in nature.

Great atmosphere!
Property is great, really close to the river so the kids could go and get their feet wet. Also not too far from Garner State Park. House itself is really nice comes equipped with almost everything you need. Just got to bring your own clothes and food. They have a lot of movies and books to keep you entertained as well as board games. Great place!!! Worth the money!!

The cabin was beautiful and quite far away from city life--just what we wanted. We visited Garner State Park, saw meteors (the stargazing was incredible) and roasted S'mores. We'd love to go back!

Fantastic Retreat
Lovely house & a fantastic getaway. Just remote enough to reset, but not too remote. Leakey is a cute little town. The property isn't too far from Garner State Park which is gorgeous. The pup loved the river even with the temps being a little chilly (for the humans).

Frio Vacation
Great property, very quiet and relaxing! Sat on the porch each morning with coffee and listened to the cascading of the Frio. Cabin was well stocked and had everything we needed, we would not hesitate on staying at this property again!

Host respons quickly to email. Yes you can see and hear the frio from front porch. Cabin fully equipped, just bring food , drinks, and charcoal. Off main road so not much traffic. E lock doors so check in at after midnight no need to see anyone. Host will give you new code day of check in. Nice and easy. Thank you!

This place is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
I would recommend this place to anyone needing some nature! I would recommend for the owner to get some hummingbird plants bc the amount of hummingbirds we saw was crazy wonderful! Love to sit outside n hear the little waterfall. Stop at the H‑E‑B in uvalde is my only recommendation.

Fun on the river
Brought the dog and the family and all had a good time. We enjoyed walking the river on either sides and finding little waterfalls. It was very quiet and the only people we saw were those occupying the house next door. My son loved catching all the little minnows. The water was understandably low, but it was more fun this way with a child and being able to let him roam around while the adults sat back and relaxed. There is no service once you get on the road to the house so make sure you have the door code beforehand. House has everything you need and more and the store in town has plenty if you forget something. Would definitely go back and consider renting both homes out to bring extended family along.

AMAZING
This entire location, property and stay was fantastic. Everything you need it right there. I picked this location due to the closeness of the water and they were kidding. A short walk and bam, plenty of fun in the water and sun. My kids (8/6) absolutely loved it and are asking to go back. I had numerous friends/families make comments about the beauty of location. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away.

Great Getaway on the W. Frio River
This property is as advertised and met our expectations. Our dogs loved it also. There is little to do in Leaky. We went to Uvalde, Utopia, and Vanderpool. It's a beautiful part of Texas. Take a good book, kick off your boots, and enjoy the hospitality Texas Wine.

Awesome location
This home is super nice. Well decorated with a lot of southern charm. Is uphill surrounded by mountains and a creek running you can hear. Beautiful view of the sky.
