Getting Around:
Alpine is one of the most walkable homes we manage — Harrison Avenue is one minute on foot, and most guests walk to dinner and walk home.
Getting to Leadville requires a vehicle — there is no regular public transit. Denver International Airport (DEN) is 2 hr 15 min via I-70 and US-24. Eagle County Airport (EGE) is 50 min via I-70. Colorado Springs is ~2 hr 45 min.
Parking: approximately 2 vehicles in front of the home, not guaranteed. Leadville's Victorian-era street grid is tight, especially in winter when snow narrows the lanes. Please park directly in front of the home and be courteous to neighbors who shovel their own spots. If your group has 3+ cars, plan to disperse two of them to nearby blocks.
Other Things to Note:
ALTITUDE: Downtown Leadville sits at 10,152 feet. Plan your first 24 hours easy: drink double your usual water, ease up on alcohol, and avoid heavy exertion the day you arrive. Symptoms of altitude sickness include headache, nausea, and shortness of breath. We cannot offer refunds for altitude sickness — if you're prone, consider travel insurance.
NO A/C: Nights in Leadville run 40s–50s even in July. Windows and cross-breezes handle daytime warmth. A/C is not installed and is not needed at this elevation.
NO PETS: Alpine House is a pet-free home.
PARKING: Approximately 2 vehicle spaces in front of the home, not guaranteed. Leadville's Victorian streets were built before cars. If your group has 3+ vehicles, plan to disperse some to nearby blocks. Please park directly in front of the rental to be courteous to neighbors.

QUIET HOURS: Leadville's Quiet Hours run 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Turning off exterior lights during those hours helps the neighborhood enjoy dark skies.

We stayed at this home located in downtown Leadville with access to all the wonderful shops and restaurants. The house was clean, updated and spacious, would definitely book another stay.,
We had a wonderful stay while in town for a family wedding at The Freight. The house was a great home base for the bride’s family (parents, siblings and nieces & nephew) to relax and recharge. Home was welcoming and comfortable. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out. Appreciated that it was walking distance to both downtown and the venue. Kitchen is well stocked if you want to cook. Communication with host was great. Would definitely stay again.
We really enjoyed our stay in this charming house in the heart of Leadville. The kitchens and bathrooms have all been updated. The furnishings were well done. And it has a cool historic feel. Five stars!
Lovely older Victorian home has been updated with 2 very large bathrooms upstairs, has considerable storage room, enough sleeping areas for 3 couples and a 4-bed bunk room. It was well-outfitted and supplied for meal preparation (pots, pans, utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, and glasses) and consumption (large table seated 10 easily). It has several doors that help isolate sound transfer and allow for privacy. Several dining chairs were weak and flimsy (one was outright dangerous and I reglued several components), but most of the furnishings were functional and in good shape. We liked the location (easy walk in town) and the comfortable "feel" of the house as well as the shovels left on the porch to deal with the 8" snowfall that greeted us one morning. We would return and will recommend this place!
We like the way this home has modern updates in the kitchen and bathrooms without losing any of the Victorian feel. The location was fantastic. We could walk to museums and dinner. The railroad was our favorite activity and we were in easy walking distance to the train depot, too. We would definitely stay here again.
This property was great for our multigenerational family of 5 adults and 2 kids. Excellent location close to Harrison Street for shops, coffee and ice cream. The house has plenty of space with quirky Victorian charm yet two large very modern bathrooms upstairs with lots of towels and a powder room downstairs. Great well equipped kitchen and big dining table to seat all of us. Property manager was great to check in on us for anything we might need. Overall a great experience in our first trip to Leadville.
The house was lovely and the location couldn't have been better. We had two folks running the Leadville Marathon and the start/finish line was just two blocks away. Main street was also just a block away with tons of stores, restaurants, and coffee shops. There was also a little playground just down the block for the kids.
We stayed here as our base for some hiking in the Collegiates.
The house is light and airy, well appointed, great to hang out in the summer. It was tight with 2 large adults but we managed to get in a virtual yoga class in the front room with no problem. Comfortable and good sized bedrooms (we had 3 adults in separate rooms).
For tired legs the short walk to restaurants and bars and ice cream very appreciated.
In hindsight we wished we had spent more time on the front porch to take on the sun and the beautiful view.
Our hosts checked in frequently before during and after our stay.
