"It is a very unique property with nice walking trails and gardens. Overall it wasn’t kept up well and needs a face lift and grounds keeper outside. Rooms were nice with comfortable bed and good shower. Unfortunately it is far from everything and the restaurant and bar were not open Monday night so had to drive back into town. Breakfast was good and breakfast room very nice. No air conditioning but the fan in the room was nice. "

"Lovely location to beach, the owners were so welcoming and on hand should you need anything. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. Room was spotless with the most comfortable bed. Supplies in the room were great and there was a fridge on site to replenish milk etc if needed. All in all a wonderful stay with great hosts and we will definitely be returning. "We had a lovely week at Rooks Retreat - even got used to the rasping rooks! Wasn’t as close to Freshwater East as we hoped. It is possible to walk (up the lane from the cottage) towards Freshwater Inn, but there are some very steep steps to negotiate down onto the beach, takes about 45 minutes. The main bedroom could do with a black out blind attached to the wall, the one provided you had to stick to the window and it fell down the first night. A couple of the floor boards in the bedrooms both need fixing down. Great location for the beach!"
