Everyone loved being on lake Raven, a fantastic location and a great boat house. It's an older house with some issues as the other reviews have noted and the driveway is terrible but we had a great stay
Property was nestled right at lakeside; great dock/boat house. Though property was quite dated; it was very clean and very comfortable. The overall experience is worth the asking price and we would book again. It should be noted: directions are very confusing on Waze and Apple Maps. MUST USE GOOGLE MAPS.

Nice property, but needs attention.
This was a nice property that I might considering renting again, but it is dated inside and could use some upgrades. We spent the first 20 minutes cleaning out cobwebs and spiderwebs out of the corners, but everything else was clean. The outdoor space is really nice, and if you have a good weather, that’s a real plus for this property. Just expect to sleep in the house and not much else. We had to use our cell phones as hotspots to get the TV to work seamlessly, the wireless is not strong enough to run the YouTube TV. We went around and saw several Friend’s rentals, and for another 500 could in an entirely different echelon of property. This house is fine for people on a budget, or people who don’t mind two bathrooms and a small retro kitchen.Based on my other VRBO experiences, I would give this property a C.
Very nice Accommodation on the lake.
1. To our surprise, The main entrance opened upstairs to five bedrooms—four BDs on the left and one on the right hall looking over the lake from the balcony. One bathroom is connected to two bedrooms, and the second is at the hallway's end. The lower level was a spacious room for many people to relax and enjoy comfortable couches and chairs. The pantry had a washer and dryer, a small restroom, plenty of cleaning products, boating, and safety gear. The kitchen had all the utensils needed and more.
The porch, a spacious outdoor area, was furnished with comfortable chairs and a couch, providing a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the view. A gas grill was also available for outdoor cooking.
2 At the Water level, there is a small beach with easy access and a boathouse with stairs into the shallow water to stand. Perfect for kids of all ages. The top-level deck had plenty of room to watch a sunset and to jump into the water from the gate.
3. This lake house has normal wear to the furniture, as expected.
4. The air conditioner worked perfectly, but the owner should have the unit serviced. It makes a lot of weird noises outside, but you never hear it inside. You won't need an air conditioner when The temperature is low: 85.
5. Important: only cars with high clearance; the last 25 yards are challenging but fun. RAV4 had no problem... There is plenty of parking for at least four cars
Overall, we thought the house was perfect for our needs.
We had a wonderful time here for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. Lots of swims and meals around the large table. Would come again! Nice swimming area with private beach.
We had a great stay at the property. Drive way situation is as described in the other reviews. Beds are older and not very comfortable, but it was a short stay so, I can over look that. House was very clean and the house manager was great. We had a great time!
The views from the cabin were spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed waking up to the sunrise on the lake every morning. It was in a nice and secluded neighborhood and overall a great experience.
I was unprepared and surprised by the road leading to the property. Once we arrived, it was great. I definitely recommend an SUV. I scraped the bottom of my sedan several times on the eroded areas on the way to the house.
Property was well located and right where we wanted to be. When we arrived we did have to spend some time removing cobwebs and daddy long legs throughout the house, in tubs, and other areas. Some sheets were stained, but we removed them and changed them. We accidentally found an old pack of cigarettes under the couch and removed them. It would be beneficial to the property to have housekeeping look into the property before a guest arrives, if it’s been sitting for awhile. We did enjoy our time despite these hiccups.
We had an amazing week at Lake Rabun! The location was perfect, right on the lake, and the boathouse/dock is RIGHT off the back porch! No winding stairs, long walk down a hill..perfect with kids or older folks! We fished, jumped off the dock, cooked out every night! Perfect porch for coffee in the morning and a board game in the evening! The last road getting there can be bumpy but we made it fine in a minivan!
We will be back!
Loved it. Just a couple things the owner should know. The road is in terrible shape. It was no problem for my truck but my wife's Honda Accord scraped bottom in several places. There was simply no way to avoid it. So we suggest stating this in the description that low slung cars will scrape or fix the road. The TV remote batteries were dead. The second bedroom in had a tee shirt made up in the bed and an opened packet of twizzlers under the bed. Again, we loved the place and overall it was a great experience.
Michael was wonderful to work with—attentive, responsive, and knowledgeable. A tree took out the stairs to one of the decks the night before we arrived, and he arranged for us to use the boathouse to park our boat. We truly appreciated this. My family has been coming to this lake for four generation and it’s the best lake in Georgia, hands down. This home has a lot of potential, but it’s clear it hasn’t been given much love. While we expected something dated, a few of the issues were frustrating simply because they’d be inexpensive and easy to fix.The biggest deal-breaker was the condition of the mattresses, specifically the four twins. They were so old and uncomfortable you could feel every spring. No one could sleep on them. Unfortunately, that alone is why we wouldn’t rent this home again. We can deal with everything being dated, but not with having nowhere comfortable to sleep.Other small but noticeable issues: the towels and bedding are extremely worn. My bath towel even had a hole in it. These are easy fixes that would go a long way.Tips for Future Renters:If you need it, bring it. That includes kitchen towels, dish soap, sponges, basic cooking utensils, and hand soap. You’ll be hunting through the cabinets to find what you need and washing everything. Don’t expect reliable WiFi either—have a hotspot ready. The driveway. My 18 year old conquered it in an SUV and so can you. The mattresses rate well above this in need of attention.

I wish I could give a better review....
Unfortunately, this house is just unloved. It has a ton of potential but needs a lot of work. Other people commented on the road in and I should have taken the warnings more seriously because it took us a long time to get out because we got stuck whenever we tried to leave.
Overall, I guess it was clean but hard to really say that with any real conviction because the kitchen is just old and gross. The counters are wood and haven't been taken care of so they were sticky. Around the house there are gaping holes for all kinds of bugs and critters to get in (mouse droppings in the drawers) and we found multiple centipedes and "beetles," etc. The AC works GREAT which is good because you couldn't leave windows open at night because more bugs can get in thru ill-fitting screens. Yes, I DO get that it is the mountains but that makes it all the more important for a house to be sealed well.
Every cabinet, drawer and closet is full of old junk and very little of what you need for things like cooking. It didn't have any of the basics like pepper, foil, etc. so if you even think you'll need it, you'd best bring it.
If you're a clean freak, this is definitely not the house for you.
Once you've survived the road in, the location is great. It is on a small cove with a little beach area which was great for the kids to play and hunt for treasures, etc. The boat house was nice for hanging out but watch out for the wasps nest.
The property management were very helpful and friendly and that was a plus for sure!
We loved the lake house property! Fantastic view and swimming area. We loved jumping from the lake house - it was a MUST. Neighbors are all very nice. There are three or four lounge chairs and four regular chairs with a round table on the deck and a picnic table with three benches under cover. The photo on the site does not show everything on the boathouse deck. Unfortunately, the big umbrella was broken.
Michael is a fantastic property manager. We rented a paddle board and kayak for four days. He is very quick to respond and made check in extremely simple.
I had read some reviews about the driveway and wanted to provide some more feedback. The drive way leading to the property is difficult, but our son's Toyota Camry handled it fine even after two TORRENTIAL rain storms that occurred the last two nights of our stay. (Otherwise, the weather was amazing with full sunshine during our stay). The Camry was parked all week so only came to the lake house and away from the lake house. We also brought a Santa Fe, which did not have any issues. We were familiar with the driveway as we had rented the house across the parking area several years ago. If the vehicle hugs the side of the driveway near the bushes and doesn't stall when going up everything will be okay. The driveway looks about the same as it did several years ago..
There is plenty of plates, serving dishes, pots and pans. The kitchen is very well equipped.
There were plenty towels and wash cloths and even some watermelon and other beach towels. We only used a couple of our own beach towels. The washer and dryer are great.
If not done yet, please remove the 1/2 bath downstairs and patio umbrella from the listing unless they are fixed. We were counting on the 1/2 bath downstairs as there were 7 of us, but it was not operational the week we stayed.
Thank you so much for a great week. We loved the property and will hopefully be back again in 2021.
This house is in a great location, and a great place for a family/ friends to get away for a relaxed, low key weekend or week. Not the fanciest place on the lake, but overall a great value.
Our group of 8 was easily accommodated at this lovely spot on the lake. Boat House is super accessible, not necessarily a given at Rabun. Michael was a great host. Would definitely stay here again.
I enjoy "rustic" lake houses, and I do not expect fine furnishings or a well stocked pantry. But I do expect clean dishes and a full set of silverwear. Almost every baking dish we used was literally dirty (like with food still on it...not just old and worn), and they had almost no spoons. One bathroom was thoroughly clean, but the other had a shower with spiderwebs, mildew, and a tub that took five hours (literally) to drain.
Upsides were were the deck, view, and small beach / shallow water for the kids, and Michael was kind and helpful related to getting into the place and renting a boat. To me, the downsides far, far outweighed the downsides.
