The home had everything my boyfriend and I needed for our three night stay. It was walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops in Truckee and about 20 minutes to Palisades where we loved the skiing. The place was cozy and warm and great communication with the property managers.
Cannot oversell how great the location was... some places "in Truckee" are not really walkable, or easily walkable. This was great to just pop over to a meal or shop. The place was clean and quite a comfortable bed... at least the one we slept in!
Adorable home in a perfect location! My niece and I loved everything about our stay. We loved Truckee and it was perfect being so close to town. We had wonderful meals and ice cream each day and even experienced Truckee Thursday which was fun! We did a wonderful hike near Donner Pass and enjoyed Lake Tahoe area! Can’t wait to come back to explore more!
Absolutely lovely and spotless home. Right next to the downtown area and Truckee River. Communication and ease of check in was excellent. We will absolutely stay here again and will recommend to others. Felt very safe here with 2 kiddos.
We are a group of retired ladies wanting to enjoy the Truckee area. This was a perfect location as we were able to walk to the many wonderful shops and restaurants. Shabby to Chic is comfortable and cozy and will not disappoint
The home is inviting, comfortable, clean and met all our needs. The location is perfect. We enjoyed morning walks downtown for coffee and breakfast as well afternoon shopping and dinner. The beds are super comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch and great little side yard. Look no further than Shabby Chic if you need a place to stay in Truckee.
Clean & comfortable house, very close to downtown cafes & shops.. Well-equipped kitchen (apart from kettle, bring your own), bathrooms and washing facilities. Very efficient heating. No significant faults.
Great location for pets and walking distance to downtown Truckee
Great place to stay if you have pets or like to walk to the downtown area of Truckee. The house has a lot of history and a great story as part of the growth of Truckee. Very clean and nicely updated. It is near a noisy road so wear earbuds if you are a light sleeper.
When we arrived at the home, parking was easy and access simple. The home was very clean, bright and welcoming. We took extra fans, even though they were provided, since there is no air conditioning. Keeping the windows open in the evenings kept us cool and comfortable. We walked to all of our entertainment venues and enjoyed the quaint town. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage and would stay there again.
The property was just as described. We walked to breakfasts and dinner whether is was in the center of Ole Town Truckee or above the house just outside of town. The house was the perfect size for two couples. The location just 40 minutes to Reno and 20 to Lake Tahoe was excellent. We spent a whole day exploring and hiking in and around Donner Pass and Donner Lake just a few miles from Truckee. Skip the Tahoe crowds and go to Donner Lake. The hike through the old railway tunnels was amazing!!
And there are not a lot of those! There is road and train noise you can read abt in the reviews and see location on the map but there are nice fans in each bedroom and we ran ours on low and it helped. The street is quaint and adjacent to newly developed river walking trails. The historic nature of the property is cool and helps appreciate some of the space issues - tight front bathroom but also applaud the modern inclusions - spacious full kitchen and dining room! Side yard nice for pups! Enjoy Truckee!
We had a very nice two night stay at the Downtown Getaway in Truckee. Everything about our experience at this house was easy and enjoyable. The location is great, very walkable, with town being right over the Truckee River. We traveled with our small, well trained dog. I would like to say, if I didn't know this was a dog friendly rental, I probably would not have even noticed that other pets had been in the home. Nothing smelled like animal or of pet urine. Thank goodness! The worst is when you arrive in a pet friendly rental and it smells bad. This house does NOT smell bad. Everything was very clean. The beds were warm and cozy.
Shower water was hot. Kitchen items well stocked. The only negative I could note is that the living space could be furnished with more comfortable furniture. Thanks for the stay!
The place was great. Well-appointed and a FANTASTIC location. Light sleepers might struggle with the train but the host thoughtfully left earplugs for guests. Would stay here again.
