Keepin' It Reel - Large Cabin for the Whole Family at Historic Vicker's Ranch - Sleeps 10
4 Bedroom/2 Bathroom Remodeled Cabin at Historic Vicker's Ranch - Bring the Whole Family.
Located on the historic Vicker's Ranch with an elevation of 8,800 ft., our family has been making memories on the ranch since 1959. Come enjoy this fantastic mountain retreat with all the amenities you expect in a mountain cabin. As one of the few remaining cabins left to rent on Vickers Ranch, you'll have access to 4 private finishing ponds that are stocked with Rainbow trout for the season which is perfect for kids learning to fish. The Lake Fork runs right through the property and allows for unmatched private fly-fishing which are just steps away from the cabin. We have easy access to the Alpine Loop and you can drive straight from our cabin on your ATVs, no need to trailer. There is plenty of access to hiking trails around Lake City, with several 14'ers in the local area. The cabin has a front and side porch with views of the river, Round Top and Crystal Peak. Once inside, a large kitchen will help you feed that hungry family with a table seating 6. A charcoal grill sits outside when you have the urge to grill out after a full day in the mountains. The living room has a wood burning fireplace for those cold mountain mornings with great views of the ranch and surrounding landscape. The cabin has 4 bedrooms with a pull-out in the living room and two full baths. You do have to walk through one bedroom to get to the back bedrooms and bathroom. One King, two full, and two twins are located in the bedrooms. Washer/Dryer included. Plenty of parking for your group. Lake City is less than 2 miles away featuring central park, shopping and seasonal restaurants. The San Juan Soda shop is a family favorite located just across from the park. Lake San Cristobal is 2 miles up the road for those who are interested in more lake activities.

Place was great
We were 4 couples all family but the one bedroom is a hallway access to get to the other two as they were an addition at one time
Clean neat comfortable
We really enjoyed getting our grandchildren together and they loved it. We stayed in this cabin when our children were small and it was very nice that they added a washer/dryer, even though it did take quite a bit of room out of the bathroom. It was definitely worth it for being able to wash clothes. Tankless water heater was great for all of the showers.

Good time.
Everything was great but I didn’t receive check in instructions. We just drove to the cabin and the door was unlocked so we settled in.
The house was great and all we needed. They should just let you know you have to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the two back bedrooms. This wasn't a problem for us, but it might be for some people. The place was so cute and we really enjoyed it. The view is breathtaking! We love Lake City and hope to return!
We enjoyed the cabin. It was a comfortable place for our 3-generation family to spend a week. The WIFI was great and we didn't miss having a TV at all. The kitchen was well stocked and had sharp knives. Usually the knives are junk. There was plenty of room to park our 2 dirt bikes, one 4-wheeler, and side-by-side and 2 trucks. It was just a quick ride into town and to the trail heads from the ranch. It was beautiful and peaceful there.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. My only complaints would be that you had to go through a bedroom to get to the other bedrooms. This was not put in the description and I feel that should be noted. The other thing is we wish the yard around the cabin was better cared for. The weeds were tall.
Property and Cabin were perfect. Location in Lake City made bars, Lake City Brewery, and restaurants accessible for post-hike refueling. Cabin was within an hour of every trail we wanted to hike. Kitchen was sufficient for us to cook hot breakfast and dinner multiple days. Tannah was very helpful with some planning questions as well. Great trip, great lodging choice.
When we first arrived at the property after 9pm, we had an unwelcome surprise - the place hadn't been cleaned! We immediately contacted the property manager and she drove right over and lead us to another property that was bigger and had more amenities. She allowed us to decide if we wanted to switch back to the original booking or stay with the new property. She comped us the first night and let us pay the original price for this smaller property for the bigger one we ended up staying out. We ended up preferring the location of the new place (easier to get around with a toddler), and had an amazing weekend celebrating a family wedding. The property manager definitely took our lemons and made amazing lemonade. We highly recommend booking with them!!
Excellent property in a great location, would definitely return.

Fun with the right attitude...
There is much to enjoy about this property but a few things could be improved on. The atmosphere of this cabin is fun and quite unique, the views are beautiful and the neighborhood was quiet this time of year. We stayed in late Aug.
A few things that could use some attention are the dining room chairs, 3 of the 6 are broken, wobbly and a bit scary to sit in. 1 of the 2 outdoor chairs is crumpled and really not usable. And the dishes were not clean. I had to wash all dishes, drinkware, silverware, steak knives and utensils before I felt comfortable using them. Oh, and there is wood for the fireplace but nothing to light it with. A lighter or matches would be nice.
Other than that, we did have a good time.
Great location and very quiet. Lots of wildlife so keep an eye on your pets. No TV in this cabin. Not that big of a deal since we all have smartphones.
