The property was beautiful. We loved being right on the river & that there were games for the family. We also enjoyed the grill & the essentials in the kitchen.
This was a simple cabin in a quiet, peaceful setting on the small Cuchara river. Nothing elaborate or fancy, so don’t expect that. But if sitting by the small river in solitude is what you’re wanting, this is the place. Clean with basic necessities, just a couple of blocks from the few businesses in Cuchara, which unfortunately had almost all closed for the season the very day we arrived. Our stay was Oct 7-9 and the fall colors were at their absolute peak, but many businesses in the area had just closed on weekdays for end of season. Still a pleasant stay. Great hiking just across the road in San Isbel National Forest.
We loved our stay at this cabin. The location with the creek on two sides was delightful and we enjoyed sitting outside. There was comfortable furniture with plenty of seating for everyone. The host responded quickly and competently when we had a small issue arise. We would definitely come back.
Fantastic location with a beautiful open back yard space where we sipped on coffee in the cool crisp morning by the flowing river and reminisced about the day spent exploring around the fire pit. Literally hated to leave…….
The cabin is clean and well stocked. There are benches and chairs for you to sit outside and enjoy listening to the creek and relaxing.
The cabin is next to the Hwy so you will hear some road noise. It's a good Basecamp for going to hike and see some of the beautiful scenery with Spring Creek Trail within walking distance.
There isn't much shopping nearby so you will probably want to stop in one of the larger towns nearby (La Veta or Walsenberg) for supplies to have at the cabin.
Overall we loved our stay here and would definitely come back again.
We had an incredible experience staying here.
Our original plan was to use it as a base to go do some fishing and exploring of the area. Once we got there though, the peace and tranquility of the back yard had us rethinking our plans. We spent pretty much all of our time sitting outside in the back yard, moving between the deck, the fore pit area, and the river benches. The added little details the host added around the place made it an incredibly welcoming and peaceful place to be. Both my wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed every moment we spent there.
This place was perfect for a quick mountain getaway! The 2 bedroom home is located right in the river. If you open the windows you can hear it. The river runs behind and behind the house. In the back, there is a great sitting area with chairs and a fire pit. We saw humming birds and a deer in the property. We are ready to return! The host answers questions very quickly. Would definitely recommend!
