Helpful personell and clean rooms.
No breakfast, but restaurants and supermarkets just around the corner.
Nice safe clean place with AC, fridge, parking, walk to restaurants- all good there. But it’s not really set up as a hotel, limited but very nice staff, limited assistance. Nice neighborhood market across the street
Our check-in was rushed because the receptionist's shift finished around 30 minutes after we had arrived. As such, we weren't the most confident with the security gate (which malfunctioned for us, but was quickly rectified via WhatsApp). They also claimed that we had not paid for the reservation, when we had, but that was, again, quickly rectified by Expedia. There is generally no staff on site but safety was never a concern once the gate was fixed for us, though had there been no receptionist available when we arrived, check-in would have been a nightmare (as was the case for a later guest who tried checking in during our stay here). The location and the room itself was great (the lodge lies on the Main Street in Fortuna), so I would probably stay again now that I am familiar with everything.

Bad: Bathroom didn't have any shampoo/conditioner and we had to buy our own. Although the room was clean, there were some large unpainted repairs on our walls that were not great to look at and a large trail of ants always coming/going from the bathroom. Didn't have a room cleaning over the 5 days we stayed. They also apparently can't have you flush toilet paper down the toilet. This seems to be common around la fortuna, but worth noting that the used tp in the trash can really piles up after a few days without cleanings..
Ugly: It feels like you are renting a room out of a Costa Rican families house rather than an individual, private hotel room. Our room had no front door, just a giant sliding glass door. We had a giant curtain to give some privacy but the family that (I think owns the hotel) setup a dining table after day 1 literally 6 inches from our door and were legit there eating/chilling for about half the day. Curtains block them from seeing in but certainly not the noise. Of the 5 days we stayed we were woken up by this family all 5 days from convos, music, or dishes clanking all before 8am. I'm pretty sure the family lives in the room right next to ours. Can't leave the lights/ac on when you leave and when we forgot, someone came into our locked room to shut them off. No cleaning done but big brother is watching the electric bill.
If this family was just a bad guest then I guess most of this is a moot point but these quirks were enough for me to share.
Great stay! Parking was gated which made us feel safe. Owners were super sweet, welcoming, humble and made sure we had everything we needed. The pillows were great. Overall definitely recommend and would stay here again for a short or long trip!

Awesome deal and stay
The whole place was a great place to stay and a bargain. It was a great peace of mind to have the gated parking lot that we had access to on our phones. The room was spacious and also outfitted with everything we needed. We also loved how it was only a short walk from the main downtown of La Fortuna. Would definitely stay again!
Fantastic property! Walking distance to downtown! I wanted something inexpensive and clean and Coati was the best. I stayed at another property my 1st two nights and paid twice as much (it was a little closer in the main downtown), but I wish I would have stayed the whole time at Coati! Hot water in the shower, clean floors, a kitchenette, sitting area/futon and comfortable bed with clean white sheets. Very enjoyable!
If you are in La Fortuna and want to stay in location that is central to the restaurants, banks and grocery store this is the place for you. The rooms are clean the beds are comfortable and the shower has plenty of pressure and hot water. Israel at the front desk is INCREDILY helpful in scheduling excursions or recommending a restaurants. the rooms all had small refrigerators microwaves and hot plates. There was silverware and cups available.
I can not recommend this place enough five stars in my book.

Not for more than one night
Old place with outdated appearance and bathroom. For 1 night it is ok but not more than that. Parking is awkward inside a gated area
Great location just a few blocks away from La Fortuna Park. Clean space, perfect setup if you need to cook your own meals. Would recommend asking how the hot water works. Mine don’t work but I figured it out after tuning the valves under the sink.

We had #2 and the "sofa bed" was a very hard vinyl couch not conducive to sleeping on. This should be replaced..

No-Frills but Sufficient
The Reception Desk is only open from 10am-4pm, and thus, because of our itinerary, we did not see 1 staff person during our 2-night stay. We communicated entirely through WhatsApp which was odd but sufficient.
This is a no-frills hotel. For example: the bed has a sheet but no blanket or comforter; the bathroom has soap but no shampoo or conditioner; the kitchen has a coffee maker and filters but no coffee; the mini-fridge is empty (no ice tray and no complimentary bottles of water).
We were glad the parking lot had a gate (for our rental car). And it’s decent accommodation, overall. Simply, it gets the job done if you just want a place to sleep, bathe, and go about your vacation in La Fortuna.

Extremely noisy location due to traffic and dogs by the property. Alarms went off at business next door and continued throughout the night. Stays at other big city downtown locations had much less noise than this property. Internet did not work in our room. We were told to go outside down the hall to connect. Parking in gated area was good, but you could not get to your room without going through 2 gates (parking lot and stairs). Stair lock was hard to open and took multiple tries. We have traveled extensively and have never given any business a bad review until now.
