Peaceful retreat near all the action

The property is located on the edge of town so was quiet yet convenient to all activities. The park-like yard was bordered by a steam and drew in birds of every color. A ripened bunch of bananas in the tree kept them busy for days. Much to our delight we even spotted a sloth! The pool was clean and refreshing after a hot day adventuring and the whole house a/c was much appreciated. Beds and linens were comfortable. Communication was great. I

Amazing oasis

What an amazing place to stay and feel immersed in the rainforest while close to town! Beautiful home and property with so many birds, and a sloth that Lorenzo found for us to see on the last day! The kids loved the pool and watching the birds! Thank you for such a lovely time!

Beautiful location, close to everything

We spent 3 nights in this home with my family of 7. The outdoor area was AMAZING! Such a beautiful place with a great pool, pavilion and patio with rocking chairs. Lorenzo was so helpful and we enjoyed seeing the sloths that he found for us and the birds that he fed each morning. I would absolutely stay here again!

La Fortuna Hideaway

We had a great time. The caretaker lives close by and brought fruit to attract tropical birds each day. It was a nice secluded property that accommodated 5 adults and 2 teens nicely.

Arenal Home

The home was large clean and was beyond our expections! The owner of the home lives next door and came by in the mornings to put out fresh fruit for the birds (toucans)! The location was close to town, yet very private. It was my wife and I, our daughter and her husband plus 2 kids and my wife's mother...plenty of room! Highly recommend this property to vacationers!

Fantastic!

The property was absolutely stunning, and Lorenzo was there whenever we needed something during our 3 day stay. We saw sloths, blue jeans frogs, several tropical birds, and even a snake! Location was far enough from downtown to be peaceful but only a 5-minute drive to the action. Highly recommend!

Beautiful property

We loved our stay and didn't want to leave. The property is amazing and was a very easy walk into town. We had 2 sloths on the property during our stay. We also enjoyed watching the birds feed on the bananas Lorenzo put out every morning. Our only suggestion would be a little freshening up on the living room furniture and a few extra linens but overall, our stay was awesome and we will definitely come back.

This place did not disappoint!!! It was absolutely amazing. The birds were beautiful and we even got to see the resident sloth that lives on the land! Lorenzo found him and made sure to let us know where he was! Also, the pineapple that Lorenzo left for us was devoured by my 3 teenagers is about 30 seconds because it was so sweet!! If you’re looking for a house to stay in, this one is perfect!!! My kids all had their own room and the location was perfect!

HIGHLY recommend!

This house and property was amazing. VERY clean and all the comforts of home. The house was warm when we checked in but the AC cooled it off fast. The property manager helped us book some amazing excursions…zip lining and rafting and they were beyond expectations! We saw lots of birds and lizards. Howler monkeys while rafting! La Fortuna was nice as well. We will 100% be back!

Wildlife galore!

We loved our stay. The house was perfect for us. It was very clean, the beds were comfortable, AC cooled each room and the general areas very nicely. Bathrooms and the kitchen both had hot water. The dryer isn’t there anymore, but we just used the clothes line. The pool was always clean and a great depth for my kiddos. Outside was full of wildlife with over 36 bird species, including a pair of spectacled owls. A guide pointed out four sloths in the trees! I saw male and female basilisks, iguanas in the trees, all sorts of insects, and a few frogs/toads. We were there during cicada season and we loved hearing the bug choir. There’s leaf cutter ants on the property and we had enjoyed watching their lines of ants. A special shoutout to Carlos from the Home Vacations team who helped set up tours or any concerns we had. He’s really friendly and so helpful! A couple of downsides: The lot across from the property has been cleared and has major construction all day every day. Many rural areas around La Fortuna are being developed. The other downside is the property is no longer owned by Lorenzo and his family, but was sold to Noah’s Forest hotel. Sloth tours were led on the property by friendly guides for people staying in other Noah’s forest properties and we had the option of joining with 24 hours notice. We weren’t thrilled to see groups of strangers wandering around the yard, sometimes without guides.

Paradise Found

This property is absolutely beautiful. The photos and description were accurate. Someone met us at the entrance of the road that the property sits on to be sure we found our way with no problems. The house is spacious, clean, quiet and the comfortable. The kitchen is appropriately stocked for cooking and dining in. The outdoor area around the house is stunning. Including, several covered patios, two creeks, a covered picnic table and BBQ. The private pool was clean and a great place to relax and cool off. Lorezno (the grounds keeper) put fresh fruit out near the back patio in the mornings so we could enjoy watching a variety of birds nibble on them while we sipped our coffee in the rocking chairs. He also found a couple sloths that hang out in the trees on the property for us to see! We wished we could have stayed many more days and hope to return someday and enjoy the house and all that La Fortuna has to offer. We highly recommend this property.

Very Clean and beautiful!

We really enjoyed staying in this property! The house was very clean and I felt comfortable with how private was even though the owner lives in one of the houses in the property. He I cleans the pool every morning and yes, he puts fruit outside the back door for the birds! It was excellent! Eder, the property manager is excellent and he speaks good English! He helped us coordinate our activities and he also set up our COVID-19 test for the day before We left. They came to the house to do the test! I contacted him after we have left the property because I needed to know the results of the tests and Eder responded right away! If you book this property, you won’t regret it!

Dreamy Stay!

We did not want to leave! Our family of 5 stayed 3 nights in this fantastic property. The house itself was spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed during our stay. The property is beyond fabulous! Wildlife galore! Go out with a flashlight at night to find all sorts of wonderful creatures right in the yard. We had a baby sloth come down the tree very close to us. We were so busy we only got to use the pool the last day and our kids didn’t want to leave. Lorenzo was a fabulous host, filling the tree in the morning with plantains to attract the beautiful birds and respectfully called us outside when he saw a sloth. We had a meal prepared for our arrival and it was wonderful! Lorenzo helped us with anything we needed, mostly via Google translate. Thank you for giving us lifetime memories!

This property was absolutely stunning! It had wrap around porches to relax in the mornings and evenings, as well as a pool to cool off in! Wildlife was also abundant and we saw toucans, a sloth and many species of birds. The home was also immaculately clean. You could eat off the floor and every piece of furniture was dusted and spotless. Even the porch and garage tile were extremely clean. This was very important to us and made a big impression. The property is also close to town, but just outside on a larger piece of land. It feels very safe and has a house alarm, as well as a safe to store passports and other important items. It was easy to get to every location we went-very central. There are air conditioners in each room that keep you cool. The only thing that could be improved upon would be the beds. The mattresses were not super comfortable and it would have been nice to have a King bed in the main bedroom for taller, more broad shouldered guests. Overall, this was an excellent property and our week-long stay in La Fortuna was very worthwhile.

The property has everything you could need for a good stay. The birds were a real treat to watch and listen to. Lorenzo put fruit outside every morning which drew them out and we sat and watched them every day for at least a while. The location is fantastic- you’re close to everything (I’d still suggest having a car, though it’s not absolutely necessary if you’re fit) . The kitchen is huge and modern. The property felt very safe. I highly recommend a stay here. We stayed a week and would have been happy to stay longer. There’s a lot to see and do and even just staying at the house is extremely relaxing. There a wonderful variety of plants and trees in the yard. One note: if dogs barking will bother you, this isn’t your place. They are cute if you get to see them and they keep the property safe, but they frequently have neighborhood ‘meetings’. None of us found it to be a problem. It’s a fact of life in many places we have traveled but I know it can upset some. The pool is great, hearing the nearby creek running is soothing. There were barely any mosquitoes- way less than at home!! The AC is luxurious, though I stayed in the top room and didn’t use mine as it cools down nicely at night and that room has a ton of windows. A+

Beautiful home in stunning natural rainforest environment

Less than a mile to town, this home is very deceiving upon approach. It is surrounded by more open land used for farming and grazing, so it is a surprise when you first cross the little bridge and find yourself completely surrounded on all sides by tall rainforest trees, and smack in the middle of two streams. The instant we arrived, the owner, who was still doing a little cleaning in the house, pointed out a pair of toucans in one of the trees. We never saw any anywhere else after that. It was very cool. Then I asked about the sloths who live on the property. He left, came back a few minutes later, and guided us to another tree adjacent to his property, and pointed out the sleeping sloth no more than a dozen feet up in the tree. We had been there less than five minutes, and had already seen two fairly elusive species! Fast forward another 15 minutes, and the owner puts out some fruit from his property on a log that sits on the lawn about 20 feet from the covered back porch. Instantly several very colorful birds, three different species, were eating the fruit, and along comes a huge iguana down from a tree, walks over to the log, and eats for about half an hour, until an even bigger one shows up and scares him off. This is all a planned experience for the first day. We saw birds and iguanas constantly on the property, but had no troublesome insects. Not even at dusk. The inside of the house is air conditioned throughout, but it wasn't needed much, not being very hot. The beds were comfortable, the cable tv worked, and the kitchen was well equipped. The upstairs bedroom has two double beds, and its own AC. The view of the volcano is spectacular from the upstairs room. One thing that was strange, at least for us, was the washing machine. It's not at all like the ones you may be used to, but you get the hang of it after a couple of tries, figuring out the dials, moving the hose from the agitate area to the rinse area etc. There are directions posted, but it's still different. Also, there is no dryer. We hung the clothes outside over night to dry, and they got a mildew smell due to the humidity, and not drying well. From then on we just dried them in the house when the AC was on and that worked fine. There is a nice BBQ area a few steps from the house, and a pool just beyond that. We had both all to ourselves. This house is so convenient, being close to the main town square, and just its own little paradise. I'd stay there again for sure.

Amazing!

Wow what a beautiful property. The grounds are just stunning. We felt like we were in the middle of the jungle. Saw several sloths, some really pretty birds, a few exotic frogs, lots of interesting insects, a variety of lizards, no monkeys unfortunately for us. The pool was a huge hit for my kids. The bridge to get to the pool, so cool. The creek on the property made everything feel that much more serene and in the middle of nowhere even though you’re really not. The house itself was simple and clean.Noahs Forest just down the road was awesome. The staff there were so friendly and incredibly helpful. They helped us book all our tours and the live music at their restaurant was great. The food was top notch too. Customer service was amazing, so quick to respond if we had an issue. Couldn’t ask for better service. The location was great, local town was just down the road. Grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, all easy to get to. Overall highly recommend this place, we loved it, and would absolutely come back!

Nice stay

Property was nice overall. It rained all 3 days we were there. We had a 4x4 so easy to access the driveway - but it could be a problem if you don't have one. We struggled with getting information on how to check-in. We arrived at 2 am and host asked us to call 30 minutes prior to arrival and meet for keys. We did work out a way to get directions and access to the property without having to meet up, but it was difficult. The restaurant just down the road was very good and the location is very close to town. We did not use the pool - weather wasn't great - but I don't think we would have used it even in better weather.

Beautiful property tucked away from the city.

We came for new years and the city was very very busy. This house was a nice retreat to get away from the crowds. The beds were not great. Advertised washer and dryer is just a washer and you air dry. Would have been fine but it rained everyday. Had to pay the hotel to wash and dry our clothes.We did see a sloth, toucan and parrots. The sloth lives in the trees by the creek and spotted him everyday. The house is owned by a hotel Nextdoor and they have a fantastic restaurant with live music and great bartenders.

Home in the Jungle

Loved this place! Liked how we felt in the jungle but were very close to town. We did see two sloths on our property, but someone had to point them out to us. Love drinking coffee on the porch and listening to the running river. So many local restaurants and shops. I would recommend the local market on the corner for fresh fruits and veggies and we loved the coffee shop next door.

Wonderful Home

We really enjoyed our stay here. We learned that the home was recently purchased by a nearby resort hotel but the property management company remained the same. They were very responsive to our few questions. The home feels secluded but is close to amenities. We enjoyed having our morning coffee on the back porch and watching all the birds attack the bananas and papayas we put out each morning. Loved this home!
