"Ute’s beautiful home is perfectly situated in a secluded area , where you feel like you are all by yourself overlooking serene setting of mountains, tropical jungle, sculptured yard with beautiful flowers and numerous birds. Our morning coffee was a pure delight as we sat for hours enjoying the ambience. A bird lovers paradise! From Ute’s location it was a very easy drive to the local town of Chauchagua for groceries or restauranting and a beautiful drive to anywhere and anything you want to see in the La Fortuna area! Everything that you want to see and do is easily accessible from this tranquil home. Ute and her long time housekeepers were very attentive and helpful with any of our inquiries. Definite recommend this location . I hope to be fortunate enough to stay again sometime! "

"Clean rooms and friendly staff. La Fortuna is about a 30 min drive. The friendly (Giovanni and Louis) make the drive worth it. We were able to spot sloth from the facility (guess we were lucky). I would definitely recommend it if you are on a budget. "

"The hotel itself is pretty good. Room was clean and organized but, upon arrival only a lady which you can tell is the housekeeper gave us our rooms. I rented 2! On reception there was nobody for a long time. I wanted to ask about the tours. The man at the reception that showed up after said he had not clue about the tours. The shower got flooded, couple of times I had to shower with cold water because the hot water was gone. Poor information. At night there I nobody at reception so if anything happens you are on your own. Location suck! Poor food choices and transportation. Most of the people rented cars which I was not comfortable doing. 2 nights in and I left to another hotel and owner refused to give any money back. I wouldn’t recommend it. "

"Absolutely stunning place. As a photographer, it was hard to get through my head that a place like this can exist, with so much wildlife and scenery, without being staged. It was real and natural. Crossing the field to the restaurant, I was focused on a Parakeet up in the tree, then two Scarlet Macaws flew overhead and a Ringed Kingfisher showed up with a fish, just outside of the restaurant’s balcony! Can’t forget about the Howler Monkey that showed up also! The food was amazing, farm to table. Each morning we saw workers bringing up fresh pineapple and plantains from their fields. The staff was amazing!! Sorry we were almost late to dinner every night 😂 Hope to be back soon!"

"We were first given a cabin that was very close to the road. The traffic noise, especially early in the morning, was quite loud and made it impossible for us to sleep, even with earplugs. The jacuzzi in that cabin also wasn’t heating properly. We mentioned this to the host, who responded quickly and moved us to the other cabin that was set a bit farther from the road. Had the second cabin not been available that day, the issues would’ve been dealbreakers and we’d have gone to a hotel. After the move, our stay was very comfortable. The road noise decreased significantly, and the jacuzzi there would warm up as expected. The host was easy to reach, responded promptly, and the cabins themselves were clean and well maintained. If you’re planning to stay here, ask for cabin two."

"We enjoyed our stay at the Secret Garden. The gardens are beautiful, the pool was clear, and indoor accommodations were neat and clean. It’s a bit of a drive into La Fortuna for the “tourist” activities but we particularly enjoyed one of the local restaurants, and went there more than once after a day of sightseeing.Keylor, our host was very accommodating and instructions re arrival and check-in were clear and simple.Thanks for a great stay!"
